Help HTC Wildfire restarting

Apologies if this has been asked before, couldn't find a thread with a similar issue.

I've had my Wildfire since January and it's mostly been fine. More recently though it's crashed and rebooted on me. It happened once while I was using Google Navigation, but I put that down to the fact the phone had overheated (it was on charge at the time), but before there's been no real pattern to it.

Last night was the worst occurence of the problems though. I started to download an update of Go Launcher Ex when it restarted, I let the phone go through the motions and tried to use it again, except it hadn't picked up my SD card and didn't connect to the wireless or 3G network. When I tried to load the wireless settings it was unresponsive and my phone eventually crashed and restarted again. I couldn't load anything, so I left the phone to its own devices and it kept restarting of its own accord every couple of minutes. Eventually I turned it off and this morning it was fine. It's not laggy (no more than usual anyway), I can load web pages fine, send texts and read the SD card.

I'm not really sure what to do, I've had a look through other forums and there are a lot of differing views of what could be the problem and what the solution is. I've seen that HTCs can reboot almost daily and have been sent back. I don't really want to go down that route as I need my phone at the moment and the rebooting isn't yet an issue.

Has anyone else experienced this, and have any idea what it could be?

there's a wildfire forum further down the page that might have some info in it :) but yea I've had it too and yes its usually when the phone feels really warm to touch almost hot. I wouldn't worry about it too much. the fact its rebooting shows the system is kicking in to protect the phone.

the wildfire really was punching above its weight when it came out. one of the reasons why I made it my first ever contract phone. just have to live with it when it can't take the pain no more.

Thanks! I plan to upgrade to the Desire or Sensation when the time comes. I've been very tempted to buy the phone with my own money (because I'm impatient!), but I finally managed to customise the phone to my liking and can't be bothered doing it all again! :-)

No worries. Not sure what way i'm going to upgrade when the contract runs out next July. A lot of wildfire owners are going to have two choices. Either get another budget but brand new phone or get a 12 month old top spec one. I would imagine HTC will bring out another budget phone around April/May next year as that will be exactly two years since the wildfire was released.
