what are the benefits of rooting?

rooting is the process of gaining root (or full) access to your phone. this way, you can flash other ROMs that the one that came with your phone (for example, you can get a Nexus One ROM, which is the stock android, and get rid of the Sense UI). you can also easily install themes and have access to apps and tools that you couldn't normally run. some people even say it makes some phones run faster.

do a search on google and you'll find plenty of articles regarding the risks, procedures and benefits. good luck!
