Help HTC Wildfire S Internal Memory Problems

tinah1

Lurker
Like so many others, I have had huge problems with the internal memory on my htc Wildfire S. Everything possible was transferred to the 16 gb SD card. Earlier this week I was unable to even read a text, with just 750 kb on the internal memory. I then read (on this site) that deleting facebook for htc would help; doing that gave me 8 mb of memory! However, I am still unable to install the battery life extended (just a few kb) as insufficient memory.....!

I suspect there is a file that has corrupted the phone and it needs to be 'factory reset'. However, the scart lead that came with it fails to work
 so I am unable to back up my files before doing so.

Is it possible to transfer Contacts onto the SD card? if so how?

This phone is the worst I have ever had, caused me so many problems...At least I do not appear to be alone.:D

Backing up contacts to SD card could not be easier. Open people & hit menu & you will see an option to import/export. Just export to SD. Just be careful as not all fields will back up. If the number is saved as other it won't back up.
Once you factory reset importing is the same process. Very simple.

like tina, i have the same problems with my HTC wildfire S. will rooting the phone help solving the problem? and deleting the fb application, doesnt seem to clear too much memory. sometimes the internal memory gets so full, i cant access gtalk and gallery too, and its such a headache to continually keep clearing the cache. is there a way out of this? kindly help by sending a mail to enigma85@rediffmail.com. will be very glad to hear from someone who can help.

Rooting is really the only way to solve the memory problem. I had the same problem as you - not being able to listen to music or view my photos without having to reboot.

Now, having rooted, I have nearly 100mb of free internal memory with over 60 apps installed.

Rooting isn't that hard and it is well worth taking the plunge because only then will you realise what a gret phone the wfs really is!

I have to agree with slimchance, rooting is the only way to increase the memory enough....

I got mine rooted with a custom ROM (WildChild Sense) and now i have over 70 apps installed and still have 80MB free space!!

Me too. Just to confirm, a rooted phone with Link2SD can have all apps saved to a separate partition on the SD card so all the internal memory is free. I currently have 90mb free.

i have pretty much all memory on sd card and internal memory so why is it telling me my memory is full when i try and view my gallery? but i can still take photos.

How do I root my phone? Im really tired of me not able to listen to music,go on gallery or even go on my contacts when i have a 16gb memory card. my memory is always full. i only have one app on my phone.

Mine's rooted and running WildChild3. Yes, you DO have Google Play store.
I have over 40 apps installed and 75Mb free, mostly by moving apps to the SD card and linking others with LinktoSD. Music is also on SD card.

Just follow the rooting guide in the All things root sub forum.
