Root HTC WildFire S on VirginMobile Root Question

I have a Virgin Mobile Wildfire S and am looking to root my device. I'm running Android 2.3.4 but really don't know where to start. I know it has to do something with making the device S-OFF or something, and something about goldcard, but nothing more. Does anyone know of a detailed guide on rooting this device or can walk me through the process? Any help will be much appreciated. :)
 
enajyram, welcome to Android Forums. I've moved your post into All Things Root since in involves rooting your phone.

Here's what you need to do to root your phone:

First, remember that it's a MarvelC/A510c (CDMA). Never flash anything to your phone intended for Marvel/A510e (GSM).

Go to my rooting guide and use the first part to properly set up the computer to connect to the phone via USB. (The few paragraph's before step 1).

Then use the section called "S-OFF" in the guide below. This will open the door for rooting your phone in the easiest way possible, and yes it involves producing a GoldCard.

Once you have S-OFF, return to my guide and complete steps 4 & 5 to both root and install a custom Recovery to backup your stock ROM before making changes.

The goldcard program is giving me an error. First it says insert the sd card, but its inserted. Then says success but nothing happened to the card.
 
Also gives this error.
