Htc wildfire s update help please

I have a htc wildfire s and use wifi connection for it recently I have downloaded a new system update for it.the update was successful then it started up with the new drag the ring to start page after this inwas asked to system update so I selected yes and my screen shut down then downloaded then started up but when it started up it has frozen on the home page with the notifications bar and no widgets or app shortcuts.it says loading in a small box in the middle of the screen and the loading icon keeps going over itself and freezing.Please help me I'm lost withouty phone as it is my first htc phone and so far I am not impressed.

It might be worth removing then replacing the battery then turning on again.

What WFS do you have, GSM or CDMA? Do you know if it's an A510a/b/c/e? Also, do you know the software version you just downloaded?
