HTC Wildfire S vs Samsung Galaxy Ace

No, not really.

Both phones are very similar, so it comes down to what you are expecting from the phone and how you intend to use it. Both are middle level phones and will have limitations. I believe the Wildfire doesn't meet the minimum spec for Flash.

There seem to be loads of comparisons between these two phone. This is a pretty basic one.

never had a wildfire s but galaxy ace should be more durable because of gorilla glass and as far as i know the wildfire s is quite plasticish, and oh my god the galaxy ace looks so much better ;). also check whether it's possible to root and flash, maybe that's not what you want to do now but who knows what you want in a year (i guess custom roms is what keeps me excited about android phones)? the downside of the ace: less ram, and that's something you can really feel.
 
I had to choose between the two myself... Went with the Ace. And it's amazing. I was worried that the RAM wouldn't be big enough, but it's grand. No bother at all! And the processor on the ACE is much faster and smoother. I'd recommend the Ace :)

My first Android phone was a Samsung Galaxy i7500. It arrived with Android 1.5, a lot of usage problems and a companion CD of software which did not work with the phone it shipped with.

When I retired it 18 months later for a Wildfire S the Galaxy was still left at Android 1.5 with a lot of usage problems. Samsung will never see any money from me ever again.
 
lol ace all the way ive looked at a few wildfire forums and ive seen nothing but repeated problems.
 
wildfire s & ace both have gorilla glass, for ACE, better if you ask your local Samsung distributor for detailed specs, 'cause in some country ace don't have gorilla glass feature.

imo, If you looking for design, 800mhz cpu and 0.3" more display size, go for Ace, otherwise choose Wildfire S because it has more RAM & gorilla glass worldwide :)
 
hm i wonder whether htc has gorilla glass all over the world, a friend of mine got himself a desire s and the screen broke because he dropped it 50cm... i am confused, or otherwise gorilla glass just isn't very strong
 
Hmm thanks for your suggestions. Even i read some specs about these 2 phones. But i'm really confused as to which 1 to choose between these two. So wanted advices from technical persons who know about this better than the normal users.

But in few reviews i read that the Ace hangs more than the Wildfire S due to its lower RAM and also that the internet it faster in HTC. Is it true? Since you people are using the phone, you will have some experience about it by now.
 
froyo and galaxy ace don't work together very well that's true, but i didn't see that many bugs with gingerbread anymore, also no force closes, but i also removed all the unnecessary widgets. if you want to run lots of apps and widgets in the background, definitely go for the wildfire... or get yourself a galaxy s ;) i'd say it's more than worth the money you have to spend more if you get that instead of the other two.

dunno about that but my local HTC product manager said so, maybe it accidently dropped so hard and struck to hard material... Gorilla Glass is very thin and it supposed to protects scratch only. :confused:

from my personal experience, Gorilla Glass is somewhat effective in protecting the screen (from breaking) in case your phone drops.
 
Harish I'm gonna merge this and the other three threads you started into one. Chances are that the Galaxy users will prefer that phone and the wildfire users will prefer that one. I feel that the Android Lounge is the best place to get unbiased comments.:D

the gorilla glass is pretty much like normal glass except the top layer has been chemically compressed ,this is what makes it so scratch resistant however due to the top layer only being compressed the glass can still shatter and crack from shock from side impact.

scratch resistant yes damages resistant no

like you know bus windows are hardened glass.... but you tap the right spot with one os those little hammers and smash with ease.

But when it comes to my personal preferences, i would like the internet to work faster and smoother. I dont play much of games, but i do sometimes. So it should be able to support few games. And also the phone should be durable. When it comes to battery, i'm not that much of a heavy user. So the phone's battery should last atleast for 2 days.
So which phone would you suggest me for this?

I think at some point, you need to make up your mind.

In my view, you won't lose with either any of this phone. My personal usage history makes me more comfortable with HTC and the Wildfire S is what my personal bias would recommend.

Points for the Galaxy Ace:

Slightly faster processor: 800mhz vs. 600mhz.
Bigger battery and longer battery life
Larger screen (3.5" vs. 3.2")
I prefer Samsung's cameras to HTC

Points for the HTC Wildfire S
The user interface seems nicer
Nice rubber and plastic construction
Thinner
Updates are wireless and don't need PC sync.
higher resolution video capture
