Help HTC Wildfire Speaker - sounds distorted

Hello,
Had the phone for approx 18 months and all good but just lately the speaker appears to have gone with sound distortion, crackling etc so I send for a replacement speaker off eBay for the princely sum of
 
Hi heirpin. Welcome to Android Forums. I guess we can safely say it's not the speaker. That would have been my best guess.. I've had them fail before on a different phone. It could be software related.. a hard reboot perhaps or even a factory reset would tell. It might yet be hardware related. Perhaps it is in the wiring to the speaker. I wish I had something more to offer. Best of luck to you.
