Help HTC...You can go to hell...

96% love the phone
3% don't.

Even though that is just a sample seems that people are not as concerned as the OP is. To the OP. You just suck at air hockey!!!! Get a life return the phone and go with Apple. That way you can use AT&T's crappier service and drop calls.

Because of comments like this, HTC can get away with feeding people their BS. Enjoy your gimped 30fps instead of doing something about it.

If you accept an inferior product, you get an inferior product.

My only option now is to either get an Android device on Verizon or an iPhone from ATT. I hope that people can see past that this has nothing to do with fanboyism or what phone is better.

Its about a phone being sold that has issues. Are you fine paying $200 for a phone and $2000 for a 2 year contract with big issues? I hope not.

I have the same lag specially when typing. If I type too fast it will skip a letter. When I brag to my iphone friends about this phone, I make sure I skip the gaming and texting part. lol.

Wonder if people would complain about this if it was never uncovered that the phone was running at 30fps. Maybe Im just not OCD.

Guys, I came back from the iPhone 3GS, and I was happy with it. Got tired of the UI and wanted a bigger screen. I got my EVO for 7 days now and I must say, it was hard to get used to, but now I love it, I don't feel that the 30fps is an issue, at all. On a screen this small, I mean 4.3 30fps should not be an issue. Unless your talking about console (ps3 or 360) with over 32" LCD screens, 30fps would be a problem there. But not on a phone. Are you kidding me. The phone is still fast with the snapdragon and on every app it runs there no lag.

It could just be that my phone experience hasn't been hindered by some 30FPS cap and I don't care enough to make complaint threads over the most minuscule of issues.

So because people come on here and post issues then I guess the phone just sucks. There are a lot more people out there that have this phone compared to the users that come on here and post negative issues. I come on here to help users that need it. Not to bash something that kicks ass. If you didn't like 30FPS then why did you get the phone. The phone is offered to you and you chose to buy it. Does that make them a bad company because they felt this device would perform better this way? So why come on here bashing something that you chose to get. If you don't like it RETURN it and get out of our way so we can continue to help people that need it. Can they improve the phone at users requests? sure... Is this the right place to rant about a feature that was built into the phone for a reason....probably not....send your rant to them. Posting here isn't going to change it...you have to squeak to them.....tell them to goto hell...not us....because I don't care what you think.

I'm in the 96% group, and can't fully understand where this is coming from.

My opinion is that people taking the time to stir up and bitch about something that bugs them - when valid - may lead to actions that will improve the experience for everyone.

"My way or the highway" is an idea that I left behind when I moved out of my parents house - and that was a lot of decades ago, compadre.

For me, today, 30 fps is no big deal.

But guess what? 60 fps @ 720p is one of the supported HD standards. I can see the day where I film something at my lab or at a customer site and then just plug into an HDMI or HDMI->DVI monitor to do a little show and tell for a customer.

Why wouldn't I want that to be top notch? Why wouldn't I always want my tools to blow away the competitions'?

Doesn't seem to me that there are many HD camcorders built in to phones these days - but if I'm gonna carry one, knowing me, I'm gonna find a way into integrating it into my work life, and I'm going to want the best I can get.

PS -

Is this the right place to rant about a feature that was built into the phone for a reason....probably not....send your rant to them.

Another line of thought is that anyplace is the right place to build consumer awareness.

My opinion is simple: we're consumers, it's us against them, we're all in this together, and consumer satisfaction polls all put US cell phone service in the basement - right down there with cable and satTV.

...because I don't care what you think.

When I don't care what someone thinks in an internet forum, I don't start flaming - I simply don't respond, but that's just me. :D

I've had my suspicion about it for a while, but having it verified does put fuel to the fire. Here is my post about the FPS issue back in June 04. Post #35.

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/91464-really-really-good-but-not-great.html

This is something that I've been stating for a really long time, but no one actually believed.

For some reason the iPhone's kinetic scrolling and animations are smoother. For example its like the iPhone is running at 60fps while other phones are at 30fps.

The 1ghz snapdragon is fully capable, which has led me to believe that the iPhone OS is either more efficient, or has better coding. The new iPhone HD is supposedly getting an A4, which should make this gap even more prominent.

Hopefully Google can optimize their OS, but as of now, the iPhone is unmatched when it comes to scrolling and transitions.

Miniscule? How do you feel about the Hero running at 60fps? Still feeling ok with your superphone EVO? You paid for it, you should get a fix.

Where in HTC's promotional material did it state that the phone was capped at 30fps? NO ONE knew about this until after they purchased it. Its like buying a Corvette then finding out later that the speed governor was set at 80mph.

I'm complaining to HTC and I'm making my voice heard here so that maybe there are those out there that don't run into the same predicament as myself.

Good for the Hero? I have NEVER encountered something where I think "Oh shit, if I only had a few more FPS that I can't have due to an HTC induced limitation, my phone experience would be better". And what the hell does the Hero achieve 60FPS on any way? I'll put my Evo with double the specs over a Hero any day, no matter how many FPS the hero gets while running urban spoon.

This is what I can agree with. HTC has done this to the Tilt and they are repeating the offense. If people are ok with it, what makes HTC wanna change? Nothing.

If people are fine with the 30fps cap, great, enjoy your phones. But I'm letting those out there who aren't fine with this to look elsewhere.

Also BTW, 30fps for film is not the same as 30fps for gaming or phone actions. You won't notice the lag in film, but you'll see frames dropped in other areas.

Just purchased backbreaker football from the Market (awesome game btw) and again another 3D game plays great on the Evo...

I don't think you'll ever get it. The Hero was made for what it was meant to do, the EVO was released and isn't doing what it was meant to do.

Hero owners knew what they were buying, Evo owners didn't. It seems like you're happy with your EVO and that's fine.

i like my evo, but then again im not a person that compares tit for tat with the iphone because i dont like the iphone. everyone that i know that has the iphone uses it for 3 things
1.facebook
2.texting
3. making calls
so wtf is the point? its a phone for soccer moms and apple fanboys.

What does this have to do with anything? We're talking about 30fps cap issue and a fix if its being worked on at all, not who uses the phones. Get over yourself.

I think it is so fumy how folks come on there and complain about how bad it is. You have not even given the devs time to work with the OS to see if there is anything to do with it, not to mention the tweaks whn 2.2 comes out.

I think some folks just thrive on the disappointment lol. HTC can go to Hell? Really? Lol the more entertaining thing is that the person you spoke to probably doesn't have a clue about the 30 FPS limit.

Either give it time or move on to the next device so you can rave about it until it comes out and again disappoints you with some serious flaw that makes it impossible for you to go on with life...

It's too bad more people that have a wonderful, working device don't come in here to rave about the Evo...But that is probably because they are too busy enjoying it.

HTC has 30 days to announce they are working on a fix. That is how long Sprint gives its customers to return a phone.

So far all HTC has said is "Its supposed to do 30fps" and "Oh we might fix it". 30 Days is all I can wait, I'm not gonna be unhappy with a phone for 2yrs.

Sweet, why not just return it today and save yourself the hassle of using this garbage phone for the next few weeks before the 30 days? I mean it seems pretty obvious to me that yours is 100% unusable and doesn't do anything it said it would right? That 30fps thing really makes it not work at all......

I guess I'm not somebody who's looking for the Evo to replace my phone, home computer, gaming console, camera, and video camera... It's just nice to be able to use those functions whenever needed and not have to say 'I left my ____ at home.' And the Evo just happens to do it better than any other similar device out there now, and some that are not even released yet.

"You won't notice this lag in film"... Actually, that's too blanket a statement. Motion perception for video and film is tied to our flicker fusion threshold and that's a sliding scale for the population.

720p @ 60 Hz (full 60 fps) is one of the top standards for smooth action video.

Will my customers care in one of my hypothetical presentations?

I'll give such a presentation when I've had time to shake out the idea with my own mini-HDMI cable, and when I'm satisfied that no one in the room will say, "that's ok, it came from your camera."

Otherwise, I'll use stills and a slideshow - and the camera on the Evo does pretty darned good at stills, so far as I can tell.

I think I just got off track there - sorry.

Point is - I'm not discerning about games or video playback - but I am about video production and use.

True EVO does it better than devices out now...but wait a month or two and you got....wait for it..

Droid X
Samsung Galaxy S
iPhone 4

All three phones that will be out very soon that won't be crippled. I'll almost go as far to say that the Droid Incredible is better.

Thanks for the post, that was pretty cool.

NP I wanted to see it visually myself too.

It seems like for FPS (first person shooter, isn't that ironic? lol) it might make a difference, but for a lot of games I wonder if it really would matter? From that page I can definitely tell a difference between 30 and 60 but I have to consciously look at one, then the other.

Pretty large assumption.
