Help HTC_IME mod keyboard not working after system update

Hi,

Ok I'm not overly techy on this Android stuff but I've just done a system software update to software number 2.09.405.8 and after the update the HTC_IME mod keyboard was constantly going into force close so I unchecked to use the standard keyboard than checked to use the HTC_IME mod again and its having no effect just using the standard keyboard now don't seem to be able to get HTC_IME mod back.

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it? Just think HTC_IME mod is that nit better

you have to uninstal it and instal special version for froyo... you can get it from xda

Try using another kb like SlideIT or swiftkey as they both have Mike buttons

Do you have a link to get the latest version I can only find posts with links from 2009 so surely they must be older versions

Further to this doesn't matter which different keyboard I try to install, it appears in my keyboard settings I tick to use it but my keyboard doesn't change just the bog standard HTC one, gutted 'cos I loved the IME Mod

I been having the exact same problem with all my downloaded keyboards.

I tick in the settings but I can only get the stock standard keyboard.

Friggin annoying.

Arh yes, I was forgetting about the long press that might be the answer, will try it tonight when I've downloaded it again

Didn't pick up on the other thread as I wasn't really thinking voice 2 text I just love this keyboard as a keyboard

I recommend you try the custom keyboard from the link below. It's the same custom keyboard you like but with the option to change the colours.

Select hi res kitchen, create a username etc and be sure to select the froyo version (v27) when creating.

Wow just made one and although the colours I chose are a bit funky it works perfecty!

I'm finding HTC IME mod baggy in a browser. Portrait is a bit better. Does anyone know if its possible to get the standard HTC ime.apk from anywhere?

Thanks all I had downloaded it from the customizable link and it was just the long press I'd forgotten about - its always the little details

hey downloaded the htc ime for froyo

does the desire always need to be connected to the internet to send a text using the mic icon

cus i've pressed it offline (no wifi on/no mobile internet/3g on) and get this error:

problem connecting to the network

The voice recognition does require you to be connected because all the processing of your voice is done on googles servers not the phone.

so to make this absolutely clear

to even just send a text to a friend > i HAVE to be connected to the internet?

be it wifi or 3g

Bah. The original mod keyboard seems to be installed as part of the ROM, so it just prompts to uninstall the old version (Which I cant).

Anyone know a way around this?
