Help htcUPCTloader.exe high CPU usage

I'm having issues with HTC Sync 3.0.5517 (htcUPCTloader.exe). When it's running (either at startup or manually) it uses 25% CPU constantly. If I start it manually and click Check Update, it jumps to 50% and still does nothing.
I'm running Win7-64 on a Quad core laptop. Frigging maddening
When I go to the HTC Support site and go to Select Phone, the Thunderbolt isn't even listed.

What's the most recent version? I have 3.0.5517 but the HTC site shows 5511

hey Jimmy...
I wish someone would answer this question... i just noticed this. my laptop is only dual core, and has an older cpu. This 25% hurts especially when I haven't even launched HTC sync.

HELP....!!! There's got to be a way to keep this from running when HTC sync is not running

The thunderbolt is listed. Just go to htc.com/us and when all the phones load its listed on page 9 at the bottom & here is the main page HTC ThunderBolt? at Verizon
