Looks like a good budget LTE device. Currently the cheapest LTE device on the market in the US.
wow metro just don't get it, people want better newer phones, not phones with specs from 3 years ago.
The vast majority of Metro's customers can't afford to buy a high end device that costs lots of money, let's face that fact.
Metro has to put out affordable low end LTE devices to get the vast majority of those people over to 4G, which is what they want to do.
Out of 9 million customers , only 500,000 of Metro's customers are on 4G. The ONLY way Metro can do this , is to put out cheap 4G phones that people can then go out and buy to make the switch.
That doesn't mean that Metro will forget about trying to put a higher end device out, but the vast majority of Metro's customers do NOT own Esteems and Connect phones.

You're absolutely right. That way someone with little money to spend can still have a little fun. And as the 4g bug starts to grab them, they'll want to upgrade to an Esteem & really blow their wad.![]()
I agree but I dont. Newer, better phones should come out and the price of the older phones should go down. Those broke people can then afford the older model phones while metro can still put out better phones. It's been a year and we still have the Esteem as the top of the line. Granted it's Amazing and I wouldnt give up for anything but it's been a year. A year in the tech world is a decade. All other carriers pump out phones every other month. A phone becomes obsolete within 6 months. Hell look at the Iphone, those features are so out dated its ridiculous. And this isnt by my standards, this is the way of the tech world.
If metro cares about 4G so much, they should quit putting out ishy non 4g phones that are 30 bucks and focus more on having more than 3 4G phones at any given time that are worth an ish.
My thoughts at least.![]()
How do you justify the statement of esteem being top of the line with the connect being available? Screen size and HDMI port? Certainly that can't be it..
I don't even wanna hear the whole "its overclocked to 2.1 ghz so its almost as good as the connect " argument either lol. Connect may not have been a huge upgrade specs wise when it first came out vs your guys' overclocked gingersteem phones, but we are overclocked too now, 1.8 ghz with the dual core.. guys are hitting nearly 8000 benchmark scores. We also have the way better screen, quality wise and double the ram you guys have lol. Esteem can't compete, therefore not top of the line.
Seriously not trying to start an argument, honestly wondering how you could think esteem is metros top of the line.
The post above answered your question for me.
Price is what says the Esteem is still on top, sorry you connect lovers.
So because metro is willing to charge 379, for a year old phone and far lesser specs than the connect at over a hundred bucks less, means the esteem is top of the line?
The logic is off there. We weren't talking about metro price gouging, nor what phone sells more. The statement Top of the line insinuates that one phone is greater than another. The connect is obviously better spec'd than the esteem, that much is clear to all but the blind.
If the point had been what phone has sold better, or costs more, esteem would be the clear winner, I'd give you that. However being top of the line has nothing to do with money, it has to do with power and functionality.
Esteem is on its way out btw, EOL.
There's "connect guys" that come in the Esteem forum and say the EXACT same thing trying to make their phone out to be best that Metro has to offer. Hilarious.
So for no reason at all the Esteem is $379. The Connect is $249. Hell the Attain is $299.
I understand wanting to justify your phone and wanting it to be Metro's top of the line, hell call Metro and ask what their top of the line phone is and even they will tell you.
The build quality is the MAIN thing that seperates the 2, aside from internal features. You hold the connect and instantly you can tell that it feels REALLY cheap. It feels just like a Huawei. Like a dummy phone.
Aside from that you have 512mb more ram and .2Ghz more. That's the only thing. That's it! You already know what the connect "doesn't have" that the Esteem has, and by Metro PCS' guidelines that's what makes it on top. Sorry, it's not my opinion. Get mad at Metro bro if you want and justify your phone to them cause honestly I could care less which one is better. :musicus:
And actually the Esteem "was" on the way about 3 months ago until it got renewed, hence why the price went back up.![]()

You'd have to stick with Metro for a couple of months before you can start saving with them.
One of my friends that works at Metro told me Metro PCS is suppose to save you money so they aim towards customers with a tight budget. That's cool and all, but what I want to know is this...
If Metro is trying to save us money (and I say us because I am considered low-income) why do they keep jacking up the prices of their smart phones? They jacked up the Attain by $100. It use to be $200. Now it's $300. The same thing with the Esteem. It was jacked up by $60 or something like that.
I don't understand how they're suppose to save us money when their high end phones are going up prices.
I know the plans cheaper but you aren't doing any saving if you're buying their phones at these outrageous prices! You'd have to stick with Metro for a couple of months before you can start saving with them.
