Huge Battery Improvement since GB

my stock battery lasted 7 hrs tonight before it died. that was with watching a 2 hr movie on netflix screen brightness 100% and wifi. then constant use after chatting on aim, text, etc. and autosync on. so i dont know why people are having bad battery issues. check your settings and check apps that may be draining battery
 
My battery life, and the battery life of my wife and three co-workers has really been reduced since the update.

I think the update changed some of the accounts and sync settings I had. I have turned off automatic updating unless I open the app. I think. I'm not really sure how to adjust the sync settings because what those settings mean isn't very clear to me.

I still want my e-mail updated every 10 minutes or so, but all other apps can wait until I open them.
 
People.....its all about what you have installed/running and how you have your power management set. Thats why there are such diverse experiences. The increase for me with GB was MINIMAL. I am very disappointed. This unit will never get good battery life. It was poorly designed and rushed to market (despite what people think) to be the first 4G Verizon phone. I deal with it, keep a charger nearby, manage my power with Juice Defender and sit waiting for the slew of Ice Cream Sandwich units to release so I can get rid of my TB and move on. I can tell you it probably WONT be an HTC and I will wait and see what the battery life reports are before I buy any unit. I cant deal with my battery running out on me at critical times anymore.
 
Mine seems to have gotten worse since GB and I run with most things turned off unless I need them. Phone is less then 50% in a few hours and turning off by the afternoon...

Unless of course I don't actually use it but WTF is the point in that?

HTC Makes the Best Phones and Puts the Worst Battery in them.

Was thinking of a Rezound but get this Dual 1.5 gig processor more screen resolution and they are putting a 1620 MAH battery in it. YEah it will be the coolest of phones as long as you are connected to an outlet. :(
 
Those running the GB update and getting terrible battery life? I'm not sure how much of this is true, but I got some interesting information from Verizon today.

My battery life has been terrible for a couple of months now and hasn't gotten any better. I've been running rooted roms based on whatever latest leak was available etc...

Lately I've been using tethering at work to test some new items we are implementing. It's very exciting stuff and was a joy to demo over a cellular connection...until my 4g got into a reset cycle. Literally everytime I'd begin transmitting or receiving data the connection would reset. In addition I've seen my data signal just drop out of no where from time-to-time when I wasn't tethering.

I stopped in Verizon hoping to get a sim swap and this is what I was told.
"Recent updates to the Thunderbolt are causing issues with some sim cards, the fix is to swap it out with a new one."
I'm not to familiar with Sim cards but apparently there are identifiers, perhaps a lot number or revision number. They actually made sure to carefully select my sim card, so far today I haven't noticed anything but I haven't done much with it either.
This could be part of the reason some of us are experiencing poor battery life. If the phone is constantly resetting the connection that will certainly cause more battery drain.

I'll try to update my findings with the new sim...and my new 1620mAh battery.

I will do, today probably won't be the best example & same for Sunday. I'll mainly be at home where I get a -55db signal from my network extended and I have Wifi. Sunday I do have plans to get out and about but Monday will be my big test.
Either way I'll update everyone but be aware that the results will be skewed until Monday.

This is at home on Wifi and network extended. I've been using it and have been used to 10% drain an hour with little to no use so I'm encouraged. I'm about to spend 4 1/2 hours in the woods tis afternoon. I'll report VA k on my experience there.
EDIT: usage breakdown btw that's 16 minutes of voice calls

Today was nowhere near as good. Not entirely sure why, I hit 11 1/2 hours just now at 8pm and threw it on the charger with 8% battery remaining.
Here's a screenshot of my usage, I had a couple of reboots. The first was because I saw my battery draining faster and the second was because I was stuck on 1x until I rebooted.

Hey, what are you using to get all that data on your phone usage? Is that an app or is it part of the andriod system?

I am convinced my battery life is much worse after the update. Just not sure why.

I mentioned earlier that after the update some sims were not compatible or simply aren't playing nice with it. Verizon swapped out my sim and I haven't dropped data since. My battery life is marginally better and I still need to keep an eye on my data. It's only been 3 days, not long enough to be conclusive.

Actually, I have had some weird data fits just not dropping data. Sunday the phone was stuck in 1x mode for a long time. I had to do a reboot and finally battery pull to get 3g and 4g back.

TO YOU AND RACEFAN...I wish I was getting HALF of that! Only 4-5 hrs with MODERATE USE!!!

Mines came with the GB update for this was a Replacement after my THIRD Samsung Charge. I was told it had a new battery but I'm not even getting HALF the hours of battery use that I got with the Needs-to-be-recalled Charge Droid. I'm hardly using it that much and the battery drops like crazy! SMH..

I ordered the Rezound battery today so I'm hoping for the IMPROVED battery life others are getting with using this battery! Will update after I get it...
 
I received my Resounded Battery Wednesday and have been using it ever since. I charged my standard TB battery n haven't used it since. The most battery life I got from my Rezound battery since using it was 14hrs and that was yesterday's results. I've been getting over 11hrs at least with moderate use. I started getting up those results this past week with my original battery. I really didn't do any battery calibration like I would usually do...so maybe the battery cycled itself cause I'd only get 4-5hrs with moderate use. I'd luv to see up to 20hrs on this! :-) I could get that when I had the myTouch 4G with T-Mobile... Even IF I don't, I'm satisfied with what I'm getting now. I only had 2 charge my phone once this week while at work. Other than that, my phone will last me from the time I take it off the charger which is around 7:15 AM until the time I get home which is around 7. I connect to my job's Wi-Fi and I'm connected to my home's Wi-Fi the minute I hit the driveway. Hope this info has been helpful to someone! :-))
 
wow, some of you guys are getting some really poor battery life.

what are your sync settings? how often does your phone syn up facebook, weather, etc?

i set all my syncs down to once every hour and got 12-15 hours stock with 4g and light-moderate use. after i rooted and started using liquidthunderbread 3.0 i get about 40-48 hours with the same amount of use.

for those of you that can't make it a full day, rooting is very easy on the thunderbolt compared to most android phones and it is worth it. everything has a snapper, smoother response to it and the battery life difference is huge. another big thing that helps is getting rid of the bloatware after you root.
