Help Huge mess of an Xt860

A family memeber dropped their phone off to me cause they played around with it trying custom os's and tampered with their recovery and more.

Here is what the phone can do:

Power + M Key (Vol down will not work) Boot Mode Selection Menu (0A.40)
AP Fastboot
Boots to Android randomly, when it does as soon as i select language it goes to a lock screen with no unlock slider.
Whenever the screen slides shut the phone freezes.
AP Tools has a line of static at the bottom of the screen about th thickness of a toothpick.


What it cannot do:
Consistantly boot to Android.
No BP Tools
No Recovery I get an android logo with a ! in a triangle.
Any Tool in boot selection menu that is not AP Fastboot just boots to Dual Core screen and sits there.
Phone will not turn on in vertical orientation(with screen slid down)

The phone was completely bricked, I was able to flash it with p2b_solana_umts_solana_bell-user-2.3.6-5.5.1-112_SLU-47.6M-111109-release-keys-BellMobility-CA.zip using RSD LITE

Is the phone shot or is there any way to get it back to working condition?

Page not found
and I successfully have recovery items:
Reboot
Apply Update from Sd
Wipe/factory
wipe cache

How do I proceed

Performed a factory reset, no change, It booted to Android, and before I could click Andy the lock screen came on with no unlock slider. I'm certain its more then android that's wrong with thing, as I said when ever the screen slides the phone is unresponsive and needs battery yanked. Also phone never turns on when slide is closed

After restarting phone it just sits on dual core screen

a bad battery can cause, unusual things to happen

another option could be root it and install a rom
 
Flashed it with the bell rom listed in the Droid Dev page, no change.

I have 3 batteries keeping them charged with a dock.


Can I root directly through AP Fastboot? which rom do you recommend for stability?

My boot is very unstable, sometimes I cannot even get the boot selection menu to appear. I will get any of the following:

no repsonse at all
Just the backlight
Dual Core logo

Is there anyway to reflash the boot selection menu if its the software not behaving properly? or is that what Ive been doing?

and it looks like i have the phone not charging or low battery error.. ill adress that. I dont have a charging option for usb...

rooting is fairly easy, but it needs to be running well enough to enable usb debugging
don't think that would help, but depends on what is causing the problem.
MOTOFAIL “Droid 4” by Dan Rosenberg make sure you right-click on the motofail_windows.zip file, extract the files to a folder on your PC, and click the ‘run.bat’ file from that folder

most of the droid 3 roms, have milestone 3 versions

flashing xml, should reflash everything, but sometimes flashing with moto-fastboot.exe works when rsd lite does not

Ok so Root was successful. I can now charge via usb after root.

This phone was never unlocked to all providers and now it is??? lol

Before I go any further I think I should install safestrap. I normally just download es file explorer and install the apk through there? anything you recommend

and what rom should I flash? a Cyanogen rev? or stock again?

phone works fine other then I cannot slide phone closed and boot selection menu is buggy

Also I should mention I can only boot the phone through selection menu by choosing normal startup

you can find one one ebay cheaper

you can still try a rom, if you want
install safestrap, through es file explorer or stock file explorer

I would try minimoto or LIBERTY3 V2.0 SAFESTRAP3 COMPATIBLE

ok I just did the moto-fastboot.exe steps .

Thanks for all the help Ive figured this out to a science now and I can consult your list if I need anything. i will order that flex cable after I try a custom rom and the issue still occurs
