So any ideas as to why the evo 3d is listed as a supported Hulu device but it won't work on this? I didn't think that much was changed.

Same thing with the play store it goes by what the device reports itself as, just have to wait and hope for hulu to come out with an update. The hardware is the same.

Once the devs have root figured out (which is a no-brainer, considering it's an HTC device AND it's based on an already well-developed device), you can modify your build.prop to be the same as the 3vo and you'll be in business, update or not.

Root is never an issue on any HTC device anymore. Go to HTC website and unlock bootloader, flash recovery then flash SU zip. Takes 5 mins.

As for hulu changing you build.prop will not fix the issue. Install the hacked version of hulu to bypass device check and it still won't play video. It is a software issue with something virgin mobile/htc did. It has nothing to do with the hulu app itself or the market not showing it.

I tried the Playon app today for the V and am having problems getting the streaming video working. I never had problems with it on my other devices, but maybe its a similar problem. I haven't searched through the forums yet on the 3vo or ics, but maybe it is a codec problem.

Is there any way to just simply see a shared directory with an Android device on a Windows network? It seems like this would solve a lot of problems as this phone will play pretty much any video file you throw at it.

(Note: I really don't want to run a DLNA server on my home network if I can avoid it in any way.)

Here is the response I got back from Hulu. Pretty sure it is just a form letter.

Hi ,
Thanks for your email. I'm very sorry that we don't currently support your Evo V. Because Android phones and tablets each have a different set of specifications that we need to take into account, we're only able to support a select number of them at this point in time. While I don't have a time frame to share right now, we'll be adding new Android devices regularly.
Again, I'm sorry for the frustration. We're working hard to bring Hulu Plus to a wide variety of Android devices as soon as possible. Thanks for being patient with us in the meantime. If there's anything else I can address for you, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

Same as their website. Their support has no bearing on whether it will work or not. It has worked on numerous devices that aren't supported. If they had half a brain they would know that it is the 3d rebranded. I'm sure it was something vm did so you couldn't stream Hulu. But I dunno yet as I havent found the issue

Yeah, kinda disappointed that it doesn't work. Usually, it won't even let me download an app if it's not supported. The option would be grayed out on the PC and it wouldn't even show on the mobile 'Market'.

Again, this may not be teh same problem (probably not) but I thought I would followup on my comment above. I did get Playon working last night. I had to download vplayer to get it working since Playon relies on the stock player. I'm going to look into other options in the market, but it may be worth a try.

Droid TV does work on here but you actually download the shows you want to watch rather than streaming. Basically works like a DVR on your phone.

While it's true that the hardware is the same obviously the software isn't. I would think that when the Evo 3d gets upgraded to ICS then we will probably see it being supported on our phones.
