Hyperion 4000mah battery and back just arrived!

If you can palm a basketball, you would be fine. I have medium sized hands and is too awkward. Since a sunk cost for me now, I am going to carve on it as mentioned above, to see if my opinion changes any.

Update:

I cut out the area and bezel where the volume, power and USB are. Makes it more usable, since easier to locate/operate the buttons and less chance of pressing by mistake. In fact, it IMO looks better and functions like it should now. Feeling a little better about the purchase.

Update 2:

Yep, I got used to it and cutting out the area around the buttons and charge port made it more usable, so still using the case. Got used to using the heck out of the GS3 and REALLY notice the difference with stock battery. Too slippery and exposed without the case and like the extra battery juice.

Do you have pictures of the case and the modifications you've done ?

Just received this battery and case today. Got it for vacation next week and hoping It can go awhile watching movies and playing games on the plane trip. My initial reaction is it's not as thick as I thought and actually makes it a bit easier to grip and handle....but will find out more tomorrow after charging it.

The case is a little disappointing.....the buttons are hard to press and one side clicks along the edge of my screen protector. Will see how it goes in the next few days.

Yes please review this and take pictures if you can. This battery is pretty much the deciding factor if I get this device.

So far after my first charge I'm at 13 1/2 hours and the battery is at 66%. 2 hours screen time, a couple calls, texts, dozen pics, video, some pandora and music player, 15 min games and some internet. Letting it goes til it drains. Supposed to do it 3 or 4 times.

The white back that came with the battery fits nicely, The case is a pain. The buttons are hard to find and press. If there is anything else out there that would fit this please someone post it.

Just ordered mine yesterday, and hope to jump to the level of not having my phone battery to worry about..

The previous posted experience i had, i.e. in Walmart, had to make important call, battery gone, and had to use my wife's IPhone 4S, did not sit well with me, and almost made me dump my S3 and go to dark side....

I carved out the area around the buttons and cut off the bezel area too, in those same areas. Works MUCH better and makes the case practical. I did this for the buttons and the USB port. Also makes plugging in better.

If you get the case, it works much better if you carve out the button areas and cut out the bezel in the same areas, including the USB port. Makes the case a lot better to use.

Do this of course with the case OFF of the device ;)

does the NFC still work?

Yes, my buddy has an S3 and we wanted to try out the S-Beam. A little hokey and you look goofy doing it but it still works (Me: Hyperion 4200maH, him: stock battery) with the larger battery.

On Amazon, my heading stated that it came "Now with NFC". Maybe the first batch didnt or they fixed it. All I know is that it works on mine.

Just an update and some pics of the thickness and case modified for the buttons.

On the normal battery it would drain 8-9% overnight and now it's about 3-4%....the
normal battery(for me anyway) would last all day with about 3 hours screen time. The extended lasted 2 days easy with about 6 1/2 hours screen time. I could see it lasting 4 days without much use.
I had intended to just use this battery for trips... You lose the sexy thinness... but the thickness does not bother me and the way the back tapers in it does make it a little easier to handle and it doesn't feel like it could snap in my pocket with the getting out of the car the wrong way.

The first pic shows the thickness without the case...

This one shows the case with cutting out the holes and bezel for the buttons.. I carved out the holes for the usb and headphones a little but left the bezel.

The last compares the thickness with the case on with a Ballistic case I had gotten for the original battery. They are about the same...but the Ballistic case would provide more protection in case of a drop I feel.

Over all for 20 some odd bucks not a bad deal I think...I may end up just leaving it in.

I ordered a 4200mah hyperion battery (cover included) (item 271020016838) and case (item 280929699728) off ebay. I have background data restricted most of the time and the battery lasted 6 1/4 days. I am happy with it.

Hmm i might be ordering this.. i think it would do the phone some good to add weight to it.. but dont know about the added on bulkness. I like the reviews you guys are posting. Helps in making my decision.

Last run on mine netted me a little over 3 days with some heavier usage at times. By far an amazing performing battery and easily the best I've owned for an Android device.

Can anyone suggest a battery to purchase that would not add extra bulk like that but would provide more battery usage than the stock battery?

Pretty happy with how slow it drains but you can never be happy enough ;)

The case doesn't really add much more thickness...total maybe 5/8"...If you get the case it becomes much more usable if you carve out the buttons like Rushmore said.

Sorry I missed your post, but post 63 shows similar to what I did. I cut a little less off and also did the same thing for the USB port, but very similar results.

Wouldn't have thought such simple changes would make the case more usable, but it does- a lot.
