Hyperion 4000mah battery and back just arrived!

Just purchased this battery. After a full 12 hr charge read (phone turned off) it said fully(1oo%) charged. I turned on the phone to see it actually said 98%. Anyone have this happen to them?
I took out the original battery at 42% stored on the desk while charging new battery and reinserted it to see it dropped to 20% while out of phone.
Any help or comments?

I wouldn't worry too much about the 98% after taking it off the charger. As long as it's not dropping off at a speedy rate, you should be fine.

The way charging works is current is supplied to the battery until it reaches its peak level.. In this case we'll say 100%. After attaining this, the charge is stopped, and the battery begins to discharge. This is a protection feature to keep you from overcharging the battery.

Once the charge falls to 92-90%, the current is started again, and the battery begins the cycle all over again. The 100% you see, is just the residual signal from the full charge. Once you power on your phone, the true level is displayed..in this case the 98%.

I can't say why your original lost 20% just sitting on the table.

Hope this helps

All I know is my Qcell lasts much longer than my stock battery. Just get one you can return if you don't like it.

I was interested in getting the extended battery by Hyperion. But i came across this thread

http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...eware-hyperion-other-3rd-party-batteries.html

What do you guys think?

here is what I read on them
Amazon.com: longcat's review of QCell Samsung Galaxy SIII X-Life NFC enabl...
and he did a test and this is what he found
"I got my CBA-III and tested the stock, Hyperion, and QCell batteries. I charged them, and then tested them down to 3.2v at 500mA. I chose this voltage because according to my logs this corresponds to 0-3% battery life left, which depends on the battery used. 500mA is less than the maximum power usage you can get (5 hours in my rundown test is about 800mA) while using the phone, but it should represent more real life usage.

The battery capacity results:
QCell: 3370mAh (4200mAh advertised)
Hyperion: 4230mAh (4200mAh advertised)
Stock: 2040mAh (2200mAh advertised)

This is a comparison graph: http://i50.tinypic.com/f00qp3.jpg. The legend at the top describes the test parameters, and the tested capacity of each battery. It's pretty clear which battery is better.

Just to make sure I didn't under-rate the QCell battery, I ran it down from 3.2v to 2.8v (the lower limit the tester software advised me to use), and managed to squeeze out 180mAh more out of the battery. Here is a graph including both runs: http://i49.tinypic.com/1qfq6r.jpg. This extra 180mAh is not usable because the phone would have shut off at around 3v. All the batteries were fully charged, even though it's hard to see on the charts. Because of the length of time it represents, and the fact that some batteries' voltage dropped quickly, it's hard to see."

here is some more tests, he also test the seidio battery

I am still in my personal test of my new hyperion battery I just received on tuesday, I did one discharge cycle so far.
I did return my qcell after it kept on reporting after immediate unplug from the charge (100% to 98%), and that was after 3 cycles, and it seemed to be getting weaker after each cycle.

My case from hyperion does not fit the battery cover they supply and they are sending me anouther, it did fit one of my qcell battery covers perfect (I sent it back with the battery:mad:), but is tight on the hyperion, hard to insert the charger, ect...

The qcell case will fit perfect on a battery cover that does fit tight with the hyperion case, but the qcell case will not fit properly on a perfect hyperion battery case, I know its confusing but this is what I found.

I've had pretty good luck with Seidio for extended batteries...though this may be good for my backup battery!
I was hoping there would be an official extended battery, but looks like that has yet to happen. That said, I bought a Hyperion 4000 extended battery for $21 delivered. Here are the pluses and minuses:

+ So far, the 4000 mAh rating appears to correlate with the results. I am getting in the region of 90% better battery life for my own usage. I will not bother being too specific, since usage is too subjective. At any rate FWIW, I get 7 to 8 hours medium to heavy use with the stock 2100 and getting about 13 to 14 hours use with Hyperion 4000.
+ The battery appears well built and professional in presentation (not a cheapo).
+ The cover design is more tapered with a decent finish and not a rounded hump or as slick as some others are. Seems anything bigger would start getting too big & heavy, IMO.
+ The camera, flash and speaker are recessed. I like this, since provides better protection.
+ The extra space in the cover provides two indirect advantages: The speaker sounds fuller (kind of like a real weak passive subwoofer) and the device seems cooler when using GPS or other uses that can cause heat spikes. Added: The speaker effect is slight, so please do not read anything more into it than that.
+ Though heavier, the device feels more comfortable to hold.
+ Apparently has NFC, but I will probably never use the function.
+ The price. You can buy three of these for the price of some other options.

- Hard to find cases, but Hyperion actually has one. Not ordered it yet, since wanted to first see how the battery panned out. I did buy a belt loop case recently that fits it well (I like belt loop cases since can not slip off by accident).
- Though not as slick as some covers are, the extra weight creates more potential to drop it. I am going to probably order the Hyperion case now, but that of course will make the device a tad bigger... Looks like something Batman would carry (the black does). I guess a little bigger is better than a little broken ;)

Does hyperion have their own website or do they only have a Amazon store?

I have the Verizon Galaxy s3 in blue, and I am desperate to get better battery life out of this thing. I am tired of waiting for the OEM extended battery and case to come out.

The only thing holding me back from buynig the extended battery this second are these reviews on Amazon

Thoughts?
Yeah the reviews do make me weary as well but hearing people talk about here...asking on forums will get you the a decent idea.

I guess I will just get it. Anyone know the return or exchange policy? In regards to the case, did anyone buy the blue case? I was hoping there would be a extended battery case that also had a kickstand...

I've had my S3 for a couple of weeks now and had wanted to see what the battery life was like compared to my old HTC Desire HD. I'd always assumed I'd end up ordering an extended battery and know enough to realise that, to get a higher capacity, the battery would need to be larger, necessitating a deeper cover.

However, the life is so much better than I'm used to that I have changed my mind. When the phone arrived, I spent an evening online researching insurance. I'd always paid for it on my old phone but, after several hours of investigation, I came to the conclusion that, in too many cases, companies came up with reasons why they wouldn't pay out. So, rather than insurance plus a larger battery, I've settled for no insurance, an Otterbox Commuter case which seems likely to protect the phone from almost any likely drop, and - should I need one - I'll just get a spare Samsung battery, which will give me peace of mind regarding charging etc.

Are there any extended batteries that are around the 3300mAh range? I don't want something as overkill as 4000+mAh but I would like something around the Razr Maxx size to keep the device as thing as possible.

So I just bought the battery and the black case. Total came to $32 with free shipping. Hope it all works when I get it.

I don't think you'll be disappointed! Been running mine for over a month now and it still amazes me running 2-4 days on a charge for such an inexpensive battery. My wife actually just had me order one for her as well.

Do you happen to know what the warranty is if the battery or the case have an issue?

Thanks for your answers in regard to my question about the Hyperion battery.
Has anyone had the issue of after closing an app and attempting to return to a screen that it goes blank just wall paper no icons and freezes?
Also how does one perform a factory reset?
Thanks for your help!
