Hyperion 4000mah battery and back just arrived!

So I am starting to wonder if the battery is not lasting as long as it should under moderate use.........

What kind of moderate usage times are you experiencing @ this time & how long have you been using the battery?

THX!

Well, when I am not using the phone much I can easily get over a day before it dies. But when I am using it the battery percentage just seems to drain much more quickly than I thought it was supposed to. But I also might not be reasonable and a tad delusional in how long I think this battery should last.

I wouldn't go that far as saying delusional. :)

For starters, battery life as stated for the OEM battery is akin to most MPG ratings on a car. Some, but, very few, actually see that kind of battery life, unless they have most of the features that make a smartphone smart turned off. What's the point of having the phone if you're not going to use it for its full potential?

Which brings us to the extended battery scene. It's a given that most here in this thread are power users, or, we wouldn't have a need for the extended battery to start with.

Even w/a battery that approaches doubling the capacity of the OEM battery, I wouldn't expect more than 14-16 hrs tops w/moderate-to-heavy use.

Just as an unscientific rule of thumb,I'd say real-life use/life of the OEM battery is only 80% of what's stated on the manufacturer's spec sheet. Double that for a good quality extended battery & that's probably real close to what you're getting @ this time.

Another factor to consider :

Battery life will slowly decrease over time, nothing noticeable at first, but, say, six months from now, you may see a 10%-20% drop from what you're experiencing right now.

A second extended battery & external charger might be an excellent & relatively inexpensive option to get the most out of your phone for the entire time you'll have it until your next upgrade.

To give a little perspective, I can drain a verified 4200mAh battery in 5 hours using a program called 'fast discharge'. 4200mAh/5 hours is about 800mA average load. That's gonna smoke any battery pretty quickly :smokingsomb:

Well I would say that 14-16 hours is about where I am ending up. I was hoping not to charge it for 2 days at a time like my friend's razor maxx.... I guess the batteries are not even close to each other. My friend is a power user as well.

The MAXX is something special, but it's definitely not the battery.

3300mAh LiIon, Non-removable

That's what's in the phone. It's probably actually 3300mAh - the S3 extended battery has nearly 1000mAh greater capacity. So, what gives? I wish I could tell you =O but I don't know.

I know it's a 3300mAh vs a 4200mah but the two are not even close........ Can't be all in the software can it?

has anyone tried this?? its currently on sale 4500mAh Samsung Galaxy S III Extended Life Battery

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BATTERY!

Just started a new thread specifically dedicated for this battery/phone combination.

Please feel free to post your results/experiences in the GORILLA GADGETS extended battery thread (should you choose to get it),so that others may more easily find any information regarding this battery/phone combination.

Hope to see ya over there soon.........:D

all these extended batteries need to be in one thread

"Extended Batteries and Replacements for the Siii"

Not one for each, waaaaaayyyyy toooo confusing and hard to follow.

Mods Please merge all these extended battery threads in one, where they belong PLEASE!

You could have started an all inclusive extended battery thread yourself, nobody is stopping you except yourself, unless you just don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation(s)......

I'll go ahead and give making a new thread that carefully cross-references all the posts as necessary and resummarizes and compacts the whole subject a shot... It'll be better than one long frankenthread.

Doesn't really matter to me what a mod does to these threads, as long as my new one isn't touched.

--Update--

I have a large part of the first post finished, but I'll need some more time to finish it. Barring any extenuating circumstances, I should have it posted tomorrow.

--Update 2--
I promised the post for today but I'm not sure about posting it. I don't want to repeat what was already posted, so until I figure things out further, I'm just posting a link to the source for my post: http://pastebin.com/FMRSZXsw

Go for it. I just hope that you keep in mind that this is the SGS III forum. You've managed to drift so far off-topic that your discussions have included other phones, which have their own forum.

Looking forward to it........

Make your own mish-mash thread.

Leave this thread exactly like it is.

hello everyone , i have ben reading all of your comments and frankly am quite keen to order one my self , as i am quite active facebook'er/twitter/news feeds, and other stuff and my battery litterly drops from 100% to 10% in matter of 5-6 houres !!! so am really excited to have such battery , bulky thing bothered me abit , but as above posters said , bigger bulkness made it easier to hold mobile , my problem is i live in north cyprus , and and the seller for the battery does not ship to my place :(

does anyone know different reseller from even different website that might ship worldwide?

thanks in advance !!

I'm interested in this, or one similar, but hyperion doesn't seem to be on sale here in Korea.
Sometimes I have to wonder if anyone here actually uses their phone.
I don't seem to get anywhere near the usage out of it that some people say they're getting.
Today i had my S3 out..100% when I left the house
work was busy so I didn't get a lot of time on it, but I did some IMing on the way to work, listened to about 45 minutes of MP3s.
some a little light IMing through the day, when i had to go off to teach at my other schools, I used it while on transit for a little heavier IMing.. a little bit of tapatalk, few minutes of facebook.

Total time...
7.5 hours by the time I was coming home, I was down around 12% and it was telling me to plug in my phone

Just stock battery, but that's just not enough for me. If I'd had much opportunity to really do anything serious on the phone, it wouldn't have lasted.

Have you tried an app like Advanced Task Killer? Put it on your home screen and tap it once in a while after using a bunch of different apps. It will help save resources.

I haven't tried that app, but the regular task manager doesn't show much of anything running.
I don't turn on that many apps, and turn most of them off right after I use them.

though I did find a lot of stuff running with that app..
it's mostly push services from various IM apps. However, a few apps were just running services, like Maps had 2 services running even though I don't use it, and allshare is running some services.
Is there someway to edit like the "Start up" list for the phone, as I'm sure if I restart these will all be back.

I am now running 1 day and 12 hours and still at 30%. Granted this was with moderate use, but still that's great. The trend I have noticed though is that my next charging cycle will be half of that time length before it dies.

You might check with Amazon.com. At the bottom of their site, it shows countries like Japan, Italy, Germany, etc. I got my 4000mAh with back cover here in the USA for 21 dollars. Best thing that ever happenned to this phone!!

I picked up one of these. Can put it on when I need it. I think it adds less bulk than an internal extended battery.

How is that working out for you? All of these types of things (last I checked) had terrible reviews on Amazon... mostly about the clip not being very secure, it getting very hot, and stuff. I didn't check to see if they were sock puppet reviews (1-star rating, first review) as unfortunately many are on Amazon, but that's something you'd do well to investigate. Might turn out to be false... or true... =|

So far, so good. Mine fits secure. Have only used it twice, but that's the beauty of it, I only have the added bulk when I need it. It does get warm when ts being used, but its not bad.
