I am sad - figured out what is causing lag

The things I have problems with are very minimal and are a result of me being nitpicky compared to the problems I had with my Q9M. No phone will ever be perfect. The almighty iPhone is far from perfect. The Eris is pretty close though (IMO). You do have to do some maintenance on it but I have to do maintenance on my quad core desktop running CentOS. Another procedure I forgot to mention is that I delete all my text conversations once they get >~25 messages. I am also hesitant to install a lot of 3rd party apps. I've also seen people state that appkiller programs cause a lot of processing overhead themselves and pretty much cancel out their benefit of reducing overhead from other apps. I have not tried an app killer for myself, but I could see this being the case.

My biggest complaint was that my phone was dropping a lot of calls the other day when I was in the office. My Q9M was an awful device, but it never dropped a call in the two years I owned it. Recently, however, the call dropped issue seems to have worked itself out.

You mean aside from the fact that it lags my phone in the menus, and makes my phone look like a toy?
And that nasty, ugly Lock screen..don't even get me started.
I notice much better battery life without Sense also.

This alone is making me disable Sense for the time being. Anyone else notice improved battery life without it?

I use this application to switch between Home and Sense:

Home Switcher. I almost like running the android OS without the Sense UI, even though I like some of the Sense wigets...

It's not the apps. Otherwise, the phone wouldn't be faster with just Sense disabled.

My wife was just looking at the phone with Sense disabled. She was using it in the car yesterday. She could not believe how much faster it is.

I will make a video on Tuesday.

i just disabled sense on my eris,.....and the phone seemed laggier to me without sense. oh well, back to sense i go. :D

I'm using Sense again for the time being. With no apps installed at all. To see if I still get Force close messages for Sense.

Sense does NOT cause the phone to lag. This is confirmed via CPU monitoring.

The only thing confirmed here is, well, I won't say it since it's the holidays.

Stop telling other people what works and doesn't on their phone.

Good day.

P.S. I can't wait to put up a video on Tuesday.

@onion.

relax with the name calling. no need to get uptight.. its a forum. management do not tolerate that kind of behavior...

I'm dying for this video.
You've no doubt seen mine I posted in another thread right? Of my lock screen locking up?

I disabled Sense yesterday and let me tell you - I can actually tolerate my phone now. The battery didn't die within 5 hours and the lag is almost COMPLETELY gone.

All the apps are the same and I am using all the same widgets. The ONLY thing that changed was Sense so...yeah. I think I found my culprit.

I'm using Sense again and I want to throw this thing.. it's good for a while but then it just goes blehh.

If this thing starts sucking on me again I am going to throw it at somebody. I am 1/2 tempted to go back to the Droid and hope to God they can eventually fix the call quality (which was my only issue with Droid). VZW corporate offices offered me the "courtesy" of allowing me to switch out my Eris for Droid one more time (after I went through a Storm 2, 3 Droids and this Eris all in 5 weeks). I just worry about the call quality. It was really bad. But at least I could use the phone and it didn't die on me.

Verizon offered me the "courtesy", like you said, to send me a f*cking like new replacement in the mail...for my 3rd Eris, within my 30 day EXTENDED return period.

Have you called their corporate offices? I find they offer much better service.
The store I went to is a corporate store. I called before I went and some douche told me they'd replace it.. but didn't tell me they'd give me one someone had already smeared their fat greasy fingers all over and thrown out of frustration.

No, no. Don't deal with the stores. I don't deal with them anymore and I don't deal with 611. They are all worthless. If you want, I'll PM you a number I use. It is management offices at their corporate offices in Cali.

Doesn't matter to me. I'm not bothering with customer service related things anymore.
"We're not happy unless you are."
My ass.
