Root I am stuck

KobeKane

So I unlocked my Dinc2 with HTC Dev site. I then flashed CWM through the hboot, and I also flashed Revolutionary through command prompt. I can get into Recovery no problem.

I have Super User Icon in my ap drawer, but whenever I try to flash a rom my phone gets stuck at the white HTC screen (the one before the boot animation). Thank God I have a backup.

I don't know what I did wrong, or where to go next. I am still on 2.3.4 is that whats hanging it up?

Is there an easy way to go back to 2.3.3 through the unlocked bootloader if needed?

Any advice is much apreciattted, thanks.

Unlocked? check
Rooted? check
Recovery? check

Since the above seems to be the case with your phone, I would imagine that your problem has to do with your ROM installation procedures.

Did you format boot, system, data, and cache at least twice before installing your new ROM? My first thought is that boot or system wasn't wiped entirely before you started and is causing a conflict with the install.

Magdelaine, thanks for the reply......

I did one through ROM manager and that didnt work, so I saved one to the root of the SD card booted into Hboot and went into CWM and tried installing that way it didnt work either.

Interesting thing is 1. WHen I am in Hboot is says S-on....but I have revolutionary on my phone and CWM.

Also I saw this on another forum as a reply to someone with the same issue as myself.

"When you flash a custom ROM from CWM on an unlocked HBOOT, you then need to manually extract the boot.img from the custom ROM zip file and manually flash it in Fastboot mode using the command

Fastboot flash boot [path to the boot.img file]"

Did I skip a step?

I had the same problem. Yes, you have to extract the boot.img and manually flash it, not sure if you have to do it for every rom but it worked for me with CM 7.1.0.1. Here is the guide I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435228

So I flashed the rom manually and flashed the boot.img and it appeared in the command promt that it worked....but I still get the white HTC screen and it wont get off that.

At this point I dont know what to do.

To make it better now I am stuck on HTC Screen...even after booting into Hboot then recovery and restoring an old backup.

Please tell me I can fix this

I tried formatting the partitions today, is that the same thing? It didnt work. I was reading back in the original Incredible forum and a guy had the same issue (I also have Green text saying WRONG IMAGE or MISSING IMAGE) when I get into Hboot.

His fix was someone made a nandroid backup of their phone and sent it to him. I dont know anyone with a Dinc2 so I am kind of stuck.

My phone isnt bricked, but it wont get past the HTC screen....any tips?

Thanks

It sounds like you are using too many incompatible tools. Think simple. Boot into recovery, factory reset, wipe dalvik, go to Mounts and format /system then restore your backup.

I tried that, but when I hot "reboot system" in Recovery it won't reboot, and when I boot up by hitting the power button it still gets stuck on HTC screen....
