Root I believe I bricked my VM HTC Evo V 4G after reinstalling beats audio

Hello,
I'm new to rooting and I'm also new to this forum. A week ago I successfully rooted my VM HTC Evo V 4G. I used the TWRK recovery image and the SuperUser Rom. Well while I was having fun with my phone I downloaded beats audio installer and it worked perfectly, but for some reason I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and when I reinstalled and the reboot, the phone didn't have any sound and the home screen was blank the buttons are lit up and frozen and sometimes it restarts itself. I am still able to go into recovery. I tried re-flashing the Rom and wiping all the cache and data but nothing seems to work and Im running out of options. If anyone can help with anything I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

First off, I will tell you, since you are still s-on, you should definitely be using 4ext recovery. It has a special feature that will allow you to flash roms while s-on.

You can get it from here: 4EXT Development
You will download the free app at the top of the page and install it on your phone (after you are up and running again). This way you can properly set it up for your phone.

Did you make a backup of your phone at any point?

If not, I would suggest downloading the odex version of the stock rom here: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/560846-rom-evo-v-4g-stock-rom-deodex-odex.html

Before I get too far ahead of myself. Let me know if you have a backup or if you are downloading the stock rom. Then we will go from there. :)

Sorry, on Mobile now. So I would wipe everything to be sure, then flash the stock rom. Place a copy of the Sam rom on your PC. Browse the zip and extract boot.img from the zip and place it in the same directory as your fastboot.exe

Like when you used the unlock code to root. After flashing the rom, go back into the bootloader and select fastboot. Plug the phone into the PC and use this command: fastboot flash boot boot.img

After that your phone should be booted up and rooted.

Then onto new recovery

Thanks man I appreciate it...so am I still using the TWRP recovery?

Yeah just to get booted back up. You have to be booted to properly set up 4ext recovery.

In the setup process it will ask you if you are s-on, telling it yes will enable the smart flash feature. That will allow you to flash roms without flashing the boot.img separately. No need for a PC to flash roms this way. :)

So once you're booted and rooted (which this rom is already rooted, no need to flash super user) you will install the free app from the website. It'll just flash recovery for you and set it all up in a few seconds. No PC. No reboot. Nothing. After you have 4ext, first thing I would do is make a backup.

And I'd suggest making one before making any major system changes. If you backup before changing something, if anything goes wrong you can easily just restore back like nothing ever happened ;)

Okay now it seems to be stuck on the htc screen. When I hold the volume + down arrow, it states that there are no images found

Sorry, I'm a little confused what's happening? Are you trying to restore a backup or flash the rom and boot img?

Because of TWRP, even restoring a backup you will have to flash a boot img separately.

I would just continue on flashing the stock rom and boot.img.

Then after you are successfully booted back up we can switch recovery and make a backup.

Was everything successful? What did command prompt display when you flashed the boot.img?

And you used the boot.img from the rom you flashed, correct?

Well everything seemed to work but when the phone rebooted the phone froze on the htc screen. I think some how recovery was lost because when I start up the HBoot it says "No img" and normally it said "Img found" I'm not understanding what went wrong

Don't worry about that hboot message. That's a standard check for a special file you can use to flash firmware through the bootloader. It does that every time you go into the bootloader.

You flashed the boot.img through the bootloader yes?

Let's try one more time. Go back into recovery. Wipe system data cache dalvik. Basically everything you can wipe but the SD card. Then install the rom.

Then put the phone into fastboot USB mode and flash the boot.img through fastboot (not recovery to be clear). You should be able to boot after that.

What hboot is your phone on?

No. No superuser. The stock rom I had you download Already includes superuser. Flashing superuser basically roots your rom if you are stock. Flashing a stock rooted rom is the same thing. The one I had you download is completely stock except it already includes superuser (rooted) and it includes busy box which you would probably install anyway.

Just n

If your rom booted up don't worry about flashing the boot.img. Not sure how you got away without it unless it stuck after flashing last time! I'm just glad you got it. Perfect timing, I'm off to bed so I can help you some more tomorrow with some other things. :)
