I bought a Chromebook !

I noticed your signature pic saying you were vegetarian. but i'm just not used to seeing it outside my normal Facebook animal rights groups. but then i live in Kentucky where deer hunting is more popular than football. it's always a subject for debate, especially on internet forums. i have had a bad reputation for being banned when i go too far so i often leave that part of myself out of forums, but oh well. :)

I used to be very active on forums, newsgroups, BBSes before the Internet, etc., 'discussing' animal rights. I have ZERO problem strongly defending my position, however at this point in my life (post brain tumor and its complications, including wildly high, crazily treatment resistant blood pressure), it's just not worth it to me. I quietly do things now, like contribute to organizations, sign petitions, contact legislators, etc., and proselytize (in a non-in your face manner) in real life, and leave it at that. I occasionally post on forums that are absolutely on the same page I am, and where opposition is quickly driven away, but that's about it.

Every townsperson here in Owensboro is aware of my position to where my big mouth is not needed. let's say i'm not the most popular guy here. when you see me in what passes for an internet cafe here (The even steven gas station) being the only one with a MacBook, it makes them really frown on ya. i am not rich, i work a blue collar job but yet i am labeled a 'yuppie' 'tree-hugger' and 'softie' which i fail to see why it would carry such a negative connotation. i just see deer the same way they see dogs. i even have S-Voice named after my friend's pet deer, Daisy. i go that far. my tech bears all manners of deer themes.

What's really amusing is that the rednecks here all have iPhones, but somehow having a Mac makes you a 'yuppie'. go figure.

Pricing in the US most likely. AFAIK iPhones from carriers are heavily subsidised, $99 for the 5C. Whereas Macs usually start from $1000, and can be much more.

Probably every redneck and his son can afford an iPhone, but not everyone can afford to or justify spending $1000-$2000 on a computer.

Where I am the iPhone is not subsidised and costs almost as much as the Macbook Air. So both are basically desirable luxury products, and one pretty much has to be a 'yuppie' to afford them. Same with lux brands like Gucci and LV.

from reading into Star Trek history, replicators didn't come out until first-seen in the TNG Episode 'Encounter at Farpoint'. it was this episode two-parter, that, right with Holodecks, suggested the introduction of that technology (although the rec room seen in The Animated Series, is suggested as a possible holodeck)

!960s TOS definitely had food replicators, even in the transporter room....which is set prior to TNG of course.

Apparently advanced enough to synthesise a convincing ice cream sundae as well.

What was this thread about? LOL

they were either food replicators or very fancy dumb-waiters, or a 23rd century vending machine similar to those coin-operated coffee vends.

BTW the Chromebook section has come back to our Best Buy, albeit with cheaper offerings. the Acer is only the 16GB SSD model, and the Samsung is even lower in spec than what was previously offered. it has also been relocated to the more rear of the store next to the oft-empty printer section. the BlackBerry section is gone, not surprising, replaced with the new LG G2 stand. i almost feel sad for the Z10.

When you live in a struggling country, you definitely can't be a picky eater

A lot of the cuisine we get here has to do with that Mongolians were originally semi-nomadic herdsmen and hunters, and not farmers, any vegetables were basically foraged. It's only like 30 years or so, they've actually started growing things in this area, usually in large poly-tunnels. The environment is steppe grasslands, semi-arid climate....and no Chromebooks either.

You guys should try meat, it's delicious.
Yes, it most certainly was. I grew up with the typical American "meat multiple times a day" thinking. Then I found out how much MEAT HURTS. And it turned my stomach. So, thanks for the idea, but I don't feel like vomiting. :puke:

And now, before I get myself into trouble, I'm dropping this topic! :D Back to the thread's subject I go...

Chromebooks to food. I don't get how we got there so quickly.

My chromebook should arrive tomorrow, so by tomorrow night, I should have a video unboxing, and overview on my Vishera Youtube Channel.

I want a big screen so I'm really excited for the hp 14. If amazon won't carry the 4gb model, I'll ask my uncle to buy it for me on Walmart.

Here it is. Pictures taken on my nexus 7

i dunno, but there appears to be a Bluetooth icon up top when i had Unity going, but was not listed on the specs for my model, so i am unsure if this is just a Linux 'ghost hardware' glitch (like the one where my Dell D610 Latitude claimed to have 96% battery remaining when plugged in when in reality the battery was MIA) or hardware that ChromeOS ignored or refused to incorporate, much like the FM Radio in the Samsung Galaxy S3 that has the hardware but in the US market no app to utilize it. in both scenarios, i have not tested to be sure.
