I bought a Chromebook !

depends on whether you are booting Linux or ChromeOS i guess. in Linux Skype is available. i am not sure about the sudden apperance of BlueTooth support though in mine that was not listed or supported in ChromeOS however.

Not sure to be honest. Can you use skype on a chromebook? I know there is Google Plus hangouts. Though I have nobody to hangout with.:(

Should be able to use Gtalk on a Chromebook, as a browser plug-in. Would need audio jacks or can use a USB headset. Myself, I usually use Skype and QQ(web version), have used Gtalk occasionally.

I didn't know there's a usb headset. I'll have to look into it. I need skype for work.

Oh yeh there's definitely USB headsets, in fact that's what I recommend to anyone. Especially after hearing all the humming, crackling, whirring, silence, distortion, bubbling unintelligibility that so many analogue headsets can make when plugged into whatever sound device might be in the PC or laptop. And I've told quite a few people "For god's sake get a decent USB headset, I might be able to understand you!!"...seriously.

Problem with using the internal sound device, you're dependent on whatever mic pre-amplifier they might be using, and good quality is NOT a high priority in many laptops I've found, except probably for Apple Macbook laptops. Internal mics many laptops can be truly atrocious....especially when you hear the cooling fans or keyboard clatter louder than the person speaking...hello Sony Vaio.

I used to do some podcasting using Skype, and good SQ was always a high priority for me. And Leo Laporte of Twit.tv, would actually courier a USB headset to any guests they were going to have on the This Week in Tech podcast.

BTW I don't really recommend Bluetooth headsets for Skype, because they're using the telephony profile, which has very restricted bandwidth.

From the reviews I've seen the chromebook wouldn't match me. I do too much as far as hardware and native apps are concerned lol

But if I had the money just lyin around... that'd be a different story :p

Now this just being me, I gotta say congrats! I know how it feels to be without a computer. However I've learned that our smartphones are getting advanced to the point they can allmmost replace pcs, and for me, can in lower end laptops.

I live on the internet, so a Chromebook is a great choice for me.
