I bought an EVO today...

Thanks. Ya they should have been honest, instead they went on a tyrant calling vibrant crap and saying t-mobile sucks.
Even though I posted flat out factual evidence, if you visit that thread again, the Evo Crazies are at it again. One person, "damewolf," is claiming that her EVO is faster than Galaxy S phones. Another person is posting a quadrant score in the 1200's, but what this person fails to realize, that score is with Froyo 2.2. Vibrants are getting close to 1800, imagine with froyo what will happen.

It's okay, I guess when you make a bad purchase, and you invested money and are locked into a 2 yr contract, you need to bitterly defend your poor performing product and carrier.

The Vibrant can only use the voice to text with google search and the vanilla android keyboard. There is no microphone button on the Vibrant's version of swype.

The Epic 4G however Does have a microphone button on the swype keyboard :D. So does the Droid X. Why its not on the other Galaxy S phones baffles me but I'm so glad its at least on the one I'm getting.

Btw, to the Original poster, you should have waited until the Epic 4G came out and then tried the Evo and Epic and see which you like better. (Or at least play with them at the store lol)

I dont use the givin SMS on the phone. I use Handcent SMS and when you send text on that, the first one you send you use the menu button and it gives you choices of using voice in addition to swype, adding a smiley, an attachment or inserting a subject. When you get a reply, all those options are in the popup window plus you can listen to the text that was sent to you if you want.

Not to mention there are a lot more customizations you can do with Handcent as opposed to the other one.
 
I had handcent on my slide but haven't put it on the vibrant. I had problems with it showing missed msgs that I had already read. Maybe I will try it again. Although I have found the speaker is not that accurate on this phone.

Dont know how it worked on the MyTouch but it works great on my Vibrant.

I also added weather forecast & clock widget and some comments say it dont work right on their phone, but it works great on mine. Updates the temp and all real well.

Not sure why some apps dont work on some phones but does on others if it is the same 2.1 system. Facebook works great for me too.
 
Yes, some apps definitely work better on some phones than others. I always look for comments that say people with this phone use the app. <<<Running to the market>>>
 
YAY! I love the weather/clock widget! YAHOO!

I added the FB app, too and it seems a lot like the Samsung widget.

Yeah i didnt like the FB widget. Would rather go to the app to activate it than it being on my screen updating all the time. Then it had twitter intwined with it. What a mess. Didnt like that at all. Like a seperate twitter app.
Really like Tweetcaster.
 
One thing I noticed about playing with the EVO is that there is a noticeable screen lag upon swiping from screen to screen. t's enough to find annoying especially coming from an iPhone and Vibrant user.
 
I actually didn't notice it, but now that you mention it....

The other functions were faster tho, like download time... Then again it was on froyo.
 
I wanted to mention, I was so attracted to the evo b/c of the tv option. Someone on the other forum suggested sling player to me. I checked it out and it goes along with a sling box. Basically it allows you to watch your home tv on your phone or computer wherever you are. I think that could work! So $$$ tho!

True. I think it is $29-30 for the App...plus you need a slingbox which i dont have. Dont think there is a monthly fee. It is still cheaper than paying MobiTV $9.99 per month. I wouldnt having MobiTV but no way im paying that per month.

I like that you really can't say anything to me because I'm a Vibrant owner telling the whole truth about the Vibrant while your feelings were hurt because some "silly silly silly" people insulted your cell phone- so you must defend it at all costs to make yourself feel better.
Which is why you made mention back to your fellow Vibrant owners that you did such a good job telling people why your phone doesn't suck. To make yourself feel better. You're funny.

If you must know I'm on my way to beind a doctor. I've never had anything lower than an A from middle school to high school. Then in college I never recieved anything lower than an A-. Save your insults for someone else, I'm highly intelligent in every aspect. I also have a deep passion for human biology both at the macro and micro level. I've studied molecular genetics, microbiology, and I've done Immunology research at one of the Top universities in the world, dealing with infectious microbes. Don't insult my intelligence just because I don't spell check on this forum. Asside from working hard my entire life to achieve my academic success, I have an inner drive to help people. I'm an advocate for human rights, I volonteer relentlessy with organizations to bring medical aid to those in need, and I'm very active in my community.
As an undergraduate I have been published for the research I was involved with, dealing with telomerase and telomere shortening and the role it plays in hiv infection.
If you read any of my posts, including the one I posted in the evo room, I deal with facts. I'm a researcher and future physician, I don't go on here spewing crap out of my ass, everything I post I try to back up with substantial evidence. I'm sorry you found offense to the factual data I provided on the evo vs galaxy s discussion, but everything I posted was well supported. Sure I don't spell check, because I don't care to, but the last thing you should try to do is insult someone for a spelling mistake.

For one moment lets assume english was not my first language, do you consider people who have moved to this country, who have english as their second language any less than you? You clearly have issues.
