Root I cant boot. Solution?

So I went to flash gapps after I realized I couldn't get those apps of the market, but I just assumed I would need to wipe anything. So I go to reboot, and now I can't boot into anything other than recovery. Or the boot menu if I want to. I've tryed changing the boot options in the boot menu (alt, normal, and recovery) all with the same resault. I can also mount and format things in clockwork like data, emmc, /boot, but I've tried them it seems it won't make a difference. I can also format them.

What should I do? I've restored a backup and after that didn't work I went back to try and flash my rom, cm7 nightly 171. What to do? This is frustrating

restoring backup "didn't work" doesn't tell me anything. Did it give you an error or just didn't boot?

I'd restore your backup, remove your sdcard and choose "reboot".

If that doesn't work, then re-insert your sdcard and reflash your rom after formatting cache and deleting Dalvik cache. When finished, remove the card again and reboot.

I'm thinking there might be a problem with the boot options or sdcard that's causing the problem.

Thanks for the reply! Finally, after trying several forums. Hold ill edit in the resaults
And restoring the backup didnt give me an error. It just restores and when i go back to reboot, i see the first cm7 boot splash (the green one that says loading under it) and then bam, right back to clockwork

Ok neither of those solutions worked :( any other tricks up your sleeve?
Also i dont thing the problem is with the sd card, im pretty sure everything is on internal. Maybe its a kernel problem?

If this helps, everything is unmounted except for cache. Is that what it should be?
And i have at my disposal, nightly 111, nightly 169, nighly 171
And kernels 6-09 and 6-18
Im also on 1.2 uboot. Do i need 1.3?

I appreciate your help :D

You only have one backup?

Are you installing a kernel when you repaired by installing CM7? (DON'T!) We want just CM7 and gAPps. The latest kernel is already in the nightly builds. Installing those kernels will cause problems and should be deleted unless you plan to install 7.03.

If that isn't your problem, then you'll have to reinstall CM7, but include "format data", which will erase your apps and settings. Make sure you install gApps again.

Will gapps detirmine wether i can boot or not? And im not even sure what kernel im on anymore, i tried installing 6-18 i think to see if i could boot with that butnope. So if i want to boot with any kernel i can flash 7.0.3 and it should work? Maybe ill try that

I'd stick with a nightly. #171 is good here and highly rated. The newer kernel built into the nightlies is better than the ones you have there.

O/W you can install 7.03 if you prefer but install it w/o the kernel. You can always flash that later.

If you're upgrading, technically gApps might be optional. I'm not sure it can prevent rebooting, but if you format data, you'll need it.

Installing an older kernel over a nightly build could cause boot problems. :D

Just flashed 171 with gapps after formatting data and still no dice :( i am baffled at this point what should i do? Is it a good idea to format things like /boot and emmc? Or will that totally brick me and lose clockwork

As long as you don't screw up your fragile sdcard connector, you can't brick it. :D

Do you have a bootable CWR sdcard?

I'd return it to stock 1.2 (See the stickies) with a bootable CWR disk.

If that works, then flash it to #171 again, making sure you format system, data and cache and install gApps.

If that works, you could create a backup and maybe do an advanced restore of the just data from your previous recovery backup. If that doesn't work, then you could restore your newest backup and reinstall everything.

I dont have a bootable sdcard. I need to buy a card reader, i rooted with one but my dumbass dad threw it out.

You could just copy the files to your existing sdcard if you have a way to mount it on your computer.

I'm going to be gone for several hours in a bit so won't be any help after 30 minutes or so.

Ok ill try that later today when i get back to my house (my pc that i own is win7 :p btw sandybridge is amazing!) As my dad has a mac

We wanted sandy bridge for new pc's at work but that was about the time they recalled the chipset. Still ended up with quadcore 8gb ram 1TB so can't complain. My pc was 4 years old. :D

Just bought an sd card reasder but i can burn any images antil i get home. Oh and you should definatley get a 2500k once ivy bridge comes out (price drop!) 4.4ghz is quite lovely.

I have a 20" Acer core2duo, 4GB, 1TB raid, Win7 x64 Ult laptop I use at home. Blew the dust off my quadcore 1TB raid desktop and sold it to a buddy at work 6 months ago. I need serious h/w at work, but for home portability is more important. :D

It's a good thing portability is important to you, 'cause the specs on your laptop say it's barely worth using. :)

Welp. Honeycomb on sd works :) still cant get anything to work on internal though :(
Another question. Doest honey comb have hw acceleration like cm7 does? Or will things be laggy..

My understanding is that CM7 has h/w acceleration, but not in videos (but that's coming).

HC has more eyecandy so it's going to lag more. Anything on the sdcard seems to lag more too. Plus sdcard fail, but I've never heard of the internal (emmc) storage failing.

What version of HC do you have? I think the last version I saw was April. :D

bump lol. after all this time ive tried a few things. repartioning, formatting boot, and emmc, rerooting, flashing old roms, flashing new roms.....nothin. maybe the ssd failed? is it under warranty? (i can fool them and tell them its not rooted because when i flash the 1.2 uboot it shows the read forever logo instead of "cyanogen" lollololololol)

I skimmed your old posts and have no clue what's going on now.

What's the problem, a boot loop (never boots into anything)? Is this with CM7 installed on the Nook (not installed to the sdcard)?

I'd restore back to stock (see the sticky), boot into that when it works, then try CM7 again if you like.

I suspect failing to format your data partition could be the problem.

Lol ive formated the data more times than there are leaves on a tree. Ive tried installing all sorts of roms, new and old, but not stock. I can run off the sd card just fine. When i try to boot off emmc, it will get to cyanogen with loading underneith, and sit there FOREVER (as in, it wont boot) before i formatted emmc data and boot in clockwork, i would get to that loading screen, but always go into recovery.
