I can't dislike Android?

Yuper

Lurker
So if I post a thread about how iPhone is better than android it immediately gets removed?

I just want to see what the android community has to say in response to my iPhone beliefs. I don't feel like I said anything rude in my thread that was removed.

Why am I not allowed to post an iPhone/android discussion thread in the GENERAL Android lounge which promotes discussion of android in general.

Seems like poor moderation to me.

Well if you've never had an android and came here just to post that thread, many would consider you a troll.

I saw your thread. Your thread was written in a VERY rude-ish manner. Plus with you just created that account, it seems like you just created an account just to rant about Android vs. iPhone. I don't blame the mods if they don't like those kind of accounts.

If you dislike Android so much, why don't you join an iPhone forum? Why are you here? Plus some of your statements were invalid, especially number 6. You stated "who would spend $200 +2 year contract on a phone". FYI, the lowest level iPhone, 16gb, is $200 +2 year contract.

Disliking is one thing... using your first post to pre-emptively bash a product is another matter entirely. I'm sorry you don't approve of Android or our moderation practices here... but if an Android user used their first post to say something like "iPhone blows" on an iPhone forum they'd be banned in a heartbeat. Have you joined Android Forums to discuss Android and participate in a positive manner?

You stated "who would spend $200 +2 year contract on a phone". FYI, the lowest level iPhone, 16gb, is $200 +2 year contract.
Not exactly true anymore. The cheapest iPhone is the 3GS which is free on contract. The iPhone 4 8GB is now $99 on contract. That said, there are plenty of Android phones out there for free or $0.01 on contract (you'll often find weekend deals). If you don't fancy getting a contract, you can get a brand new, budget Android phone for as low as $100~150 with higher end phones going for $400~600. Really digging the Sony Xperia Ray (~$350 no contract).

Errata:
iPhone 4 16GB was discontinued with a clearance price of $149 on contract. The $99 model is the iPhone 4 8GB.

I think it safe for all of us to agree that there are both cheap AND expensive Android devices. And that there are both cheap AND expensive iPhones.

I think we need to walk a fine line in this thread as it has potential to get ugly... There needs to be no bashing in this thread, whether that be bashing of iPhone or bashing of Android. If Yuper does not like Android... that's ok! But this is not the place for taking sides in this rather divisive debate and commence to bashing. There are lots of forums where this would be acceptable behavior. Android Forums is not one of them...

If you prefer the Iphone - fine. That's your opinion. You are entitled to it.

However, you are on an Android forum and just bashing for bashing's sake is rude. Someone posting a comment about how IOS is the only way to go would turn me off entirely.

For all the fanboys -
As far as I'm concerned, there is NO perfect system. You choose what works best for you and allow others to do the same.

Symbian could infuriate me, Windows has, Apple computers have, Ubuntu can, so can Android. I just pick the system I can live with and don't feel it's also the perfect solution for you.

I was mainly referring to the new, top of the line iPhones, but I stand corrected.

Seems like a lot of folks who want their phone "as is" and not customizable prefer the iPhone. I have a family member who loves to show off his iPhone. Almost every feature he brags about was on Android last year.

Yuper, I have found this forum very friendly and informative. As other have said, you are free to contribute, discuss, compare and contrast. I have not found this forum over-moderated.

2 cents.

Also most (if not all) of the "Lets bash iOS" threads get locked pretty quickly as well here too seeing as they really are pointless. I don't see a reason to join a forum just to attempt to piss off others

In my book....that usually is the definition of a troll. I hang out at Apple Insider and Mac Rumors and have yet to join either site...been hanging out there since 2008, 2009? I like to keep up with whats going on in Apple land but I know the day I join its gonna be hard to post and not come off like an Android fanboy.

I will admit when I first joined this site I was a manufacture fanboy and some of my early posts could be seen as trollish. I have changed my posting style since then IMO and I just dont comment like that anymore or save my hatred, utter dislike for any manufacture, mobile OS...for iPhone bashing threads...:p

Seriously, there are pros n cons to every manufacture, mobile OS, car, anything we can get our hands on and use. The key is deciding what cons you can live with....that wil determine what you feel is the best ___(insert OS, phone, PC, car, female wrestler, etc here____

For me, as of right now Android is the bees knees. This is from someone who almost got an iPhone in 2009. Choice and customization out the box is hard for me to give up right now. And the reason why if Android ever disappeared my next phone would be WP7. Its almost the best of both worlds between Android and the iPhone.

So if I post a thread about how iPhone is better than android it immediately gets removed?

Generally posting "iphone is better than android" in an android forum is spamming, duh! You could've done this in a universal phone or gadget forum, of which there are many.

I have some apple products & an android phone, & may draw some honest comparisons based on my experiences so far of both. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to attempt to persuade anyone to not buy something, because of the many variables of what people actually want from a phone. It's a personal thing. So let's not go telling people what to do, people don't appreciate that.

Also, most people can tell an employee post from a joe public post, & the whole apple vs android thing is getting old & often quite childish.
