Root i cant go in to recovery

i rooted my evo v first time.. i got it into unlock mode but when i do the steps on flashing the recovery it wont take me to recovery to intall the custom rom.. is there anything i missed .. i downloaded TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP) version 1.1.1 and renamed to recovery.img and put it on the sdk tools folder when i staed the adb steps on boot into recovery it takes me to normal boot

Pull the battery, put back in, hold power + vol down, you should be in the bootloader. Select recovery.

I did but no luck it still reboots back to home..
On adb it shows its writing the recovery but once I hit "recovery" it takes me back like if I would press reboot ...what could this problem be any other ideas..I wanna install custom Rom so baddd

Try installing GooManager off Google Play. Open it, hit the menu key, and choose InstallOpenRecoveryScript. It will install TWRP 2 for you. And you will have the option to reboot into the recovery from the app.

Recovery may just not have flashed properly. Actually, from what you said in the OP, it almost sounds like you tried to boot into recovery before actually flashing it. I'd try what AngryTeddyBear mentioned above. It's the easiest way for sure.

I tried the goo manager method and still no luck
I installed the recovery script but when I hit go to recovery it wont take me there I tried going manually
And still reboots me back to home screen...I don't know whats going on..

Even when I'm on bootloader and hit data factory reset it reboots n takes me to the home screen
Can this phone be not root compatible??? I mean I've rooted other evos v with no problem..

It's on the Play Store, just install the app and run it and it'll install the recovery.

you will already need root access. you will have to fastboot flash a recovery img for the first time..then you root..then you can grant 4ext permission to flash a new recovery img from the app itself

Yes fastboot was off....Can this problem be caused by the drivers..
I downloaded HTC sync but my computer won't detect my phone..
Any links for the drivers so I can reinstall them...

ok so i fanally got into recovery!!!!!!
i had to do driffrent steps but it ended up working right.
now im running team win recovery project v2.2.0
looks pretty awsome compared to v1.1.1

I have a couple questions that I hope someone could answer. When I first rooted my phone I had twrp1.1.1, then I upgraded to 1.2. Around the same time I had done a stock backup using one of these recoveries. I am currently using 4ext recovery. I am trying to revert back to my stock backup but it will not backup using 4ext, which is understandable since I used twrp. My question is, how can I get back to the twrp recovery?? When I use goo manager, it takes me into 4ext recovery again. I need to get back into twrp recovery. Thank you for any and all help.
