Best buy is accepting preorders, but that doesn't mean they are going to be receiving any special amount above and beyond what they were going to be getting. Consequentially, what will be happening is this:

You preorder the phone and your name gets added to the list.

Best buy starts calling people on the list when they receive their phones and scheduling an appointment with you to have your phone picked up. Once they run out of phones, that preorder list is meaningless. Everyone else on the list will have to wait until the next order.

So basically, if they get 10 phones in tomorrow, they will call 10 people on the list tomorrow and tell them their phone is in. Then they will set an appointment with you for Friday when you can come and get it.

The fact that they are calling you has nothing to do with when you can come get it. The date for that is still Friday. (or later if they run out of stock before your name is reached on the list.)

Fadelight, Best buy is getting their regular stock (10 to 50) and also ordering for all pre orders. Unless the Verizon warehouses run out Best Buy will be able to honor all pre orders.

hm... interesting tid-bit of info. It was explained to me by a best buy rep the way I had posted it.

I hope you are right and they are wrong. For everyone else's sake... not mine. They won't honor my NE2, so I'll just be going to VZ. :(
 
I'm traveling on Friday and won't get in until afternoon. Hope there is a lot of stock! The only good thing is there is a lot of verizon stores where I live so may wind up doing some driving looking for a Droid to give a good home to :)
 
One more day for me. :) I'm up much earlier than normal right now, so that isn't a good thing. Regardless... tomorrow night after work, I will stop in and pick my phone up. :D

I love working nights. It changes your view/timeframe on everything.
 
And finally tomorrow is the day! What is the first thing you will do with your Droid?

I will probably make a call to my wife and tell her I have it.

I'll probably post on Twitter/facebook then maybe IM my husband on Gtalk. He teaches though so often he's unavailable. Then I'll set Navigation to take me home (just cus, vzw is only 10 minutes away)!

my store is opening at 7 am I will be there at 659 for sure. I got to play with one today and all it did was fan the flame. I can't wait I was assured they had plenty on hand but I am not taking any chances lol
 
OMG... I am soooooo excited ...!! hubby doesnt even know its tmo that im picking it up ...he keeps threatning me that he will touch it and yada yada and unless im slave for a day ... :rolleyes: lol ... he will have such a shock when he sees i got it in my hands ... ive been telling him it would arrive by fed ex...and he said he was goign to hide it , or open it without me just to pay back for being on these forums ALL DAY ...etc ...he even wanted to blackmail me ...lol .... so i finally broke down and told him i had to pick it up on ...SATURDAY ;)!! he got another thing coming if he thinks he will be playing with MY NEW phone !! ..let alone be the 1st to touch it ...


I got the call from BB earlier to confirm my appt at 10:30 ...came up with a real excuse to leave the house ..(i have a fractured foot) told him i have physical therapy ...Oh my ... ive been planning this day for 2 weeks ... the only thing that can mess it up is ... he wants to accompany me to theraphy :eek: ... NO F'in way ... i want to enjoy my baby ALONE !!
I ADMIT im sick in the head ... lol ...i sneaked in a call to my local walmart to see if they have it in stock ...he overheard and went :eek: hes convinced i need serious help ..hahaha ...
ok my confession is over ...whew i feel better ...:cool:
 
I am so glad that my husband is not a techie. He couldn't care less about this phone. He is getting a new phone. His one requirement is that it is a flip phone. I chose the Alias2 for him because it has the qwerty keyboard. (He only started texting this past month because he is mentoring a teenager and that is the way to communicate with them.) I don't have to share this with ANYBODY! Hahahahahaha! (Evil laugh)
 
Just under 11 hours here (west coast, 7AM opening).

I have reached new heights (depths?) of obsession waiting for this phone...my wife is waiting with the commitment papers, nice knowing you all. ;)
 
I have never been excited over a phone...Lemme rephrase that I have never been this excited over a phone. It's kinda odd actually, I hope that I wont be disappointed though. I feel that I may be thinking this phone is a lot cooler then it actually is. Lets hope I'm wrong.
 
I read on Engadget som Best Buy Mobile stores and Wal Mart were letting it go early. I walked to my Best Buy (where I pre-ordered) and the guy gave me a look like I was a huge dork and I should go home.

He did, however, put me at the top of the list to come in and get it so it wasn't a total loss...
 
stopped by my local vzw store, they said they had 100 droids and 80 erisses ready to go for tomorrow morning - he speculated that there would be people camping out overnight!
 
It's like christmas eve my store opens at 7 and I plan on being there to greet them. I went to my store today and got to play with one I can't wait to actually be able to leave the store with it yippee yippee I can't sleep lol

Me too, I have never been this excited about a phone! I can't wait. I am trying to decide how early to get there before it opens at 8am West Coast time. I will problaly only show up an hour or so before opening. Bummer I have to work until 1a, it will be hard to get up that early!

Ha, same here, I'm at work til 1am and I'm getting up at 8 to get mine...
