Rename to update.zip and place it on your SD card, but not in a directory, Use RSD to flash sprecovery. Boot into sprecovery. Load the update.zip from your SD card. Reboot and enjoy the Froyo goodness!! This is all in the videos. All the files you need are also there except for BBV0.4 link that I just provided.

...and then up comes SPRecovery and we're DONE! Install "update.zip"... Froyo!

Once you're done, Dan, you'll wonder what the fuss was all about. My son wants me to root his Eris and I am hesitant to do so... it seems complex to me. But the Droid? Cakewalk.

WHOA! Before you start casting stones, let me vindicate myself a little bit:

I pointed him in the direction of the Droid and he - rebellious non-advice-taking son that he is - just HAD to have an Eris. And Eris he got. Now he hates it, even though I forced the 2.1 update onto it. He wants me to root it and put the White Widow ROM on it and I told him I wouldn't do it until his warranty expires... now he's stuck. SO THERE
