There's an apk file you can download then run, 15 seconds & a reboot later (all automated once you install the apk & run it) you can install SuperSU from the Play Store & you're all set.

Worked for me on my Virgin Mobile LG Volt (LGLS740).

I'm not a dev or anything, just like monkeying around with my phone for fun, so I can't offer any support beyond what I've written here.

Good luck and happy rooting!

John

I can also say that this worked for my phone. I have the LG Volt from boost. I have root also, very easy and quick to get root. Just do as above and down load from the play store root checker.

Thanks guys.

Congratulations, glad to see that ya'll are happy for being able to root...I thought some were goin to drop the Volt simply cause they couldn't get root/be patient enough for devs to get workin on it.

I like the volt out of the package but I'm a thinker by nature so root made me ecstatic. Would have kept it either way as I can't afford another phone right now.

Well I am seeing one problem with the root so far. I have a font I like and can't get font installer to install it. Font Installer has worked perfect on my other phones and tablets. I don't know why it is not working on this phone. It will not change the font.

I literally logged back on here JUST to post this. SuperSU isn't failing on trying to update the binary. IDK why. I try to go and download Super User from ChainsDD and it is saying that the directory where the SU binary is is not writable. Does anyone know how to make it writable without root explorer?

Picked one up for my wife thanks to tigatron. Its a nice phone. I may have to give this a run when she's not looking lol

Hey Jim good to see you in these hear parts.

I'm loving my volt; it makes the warp seem like a old rotary phone. Lol

I got my font now. I had to go old school and replace the fonts with my own. but I now have them.

What files do we pull for theme use?

I have KITKAT Deodexer installed now and can rework the files but i am not sure with kitkat which ones it uses for this phone.

Yeah its a million times nicer than the OG warp out of the box. Took a lot of work to make that clunker cool. Do you guys know if your boot loader is locked?

Hey Jim!!! Good to see you in these forums! From what I know, I BELIEVE the bootloader is locked, but it's possible we could still flash recovery and roms without unlocking it, though I don't want to try it until we find a way to unbrick our phones via download mode. We can't access bootloader mode or use adb or fastboot. Adb is only usable with the phone booted into android. From what I read and am guessing is this phone possibly uses something called QFuses and that we might be able to use Loki to flash recovery or roms if we can't do it with the bootloader locked.

lg devices are all locked bootloaders, loki was patched with 4.4 so there wont be any of that tomfoolery anymore. best case you guys get a app that boots a 2nd init recovery.

But just because the bootloaders locked doesn't mean we can't flash recovery or roms, right?
There's plenty other devices I see with locked bootloaders that can still flash a recovery and rom.

no having a locked bootloader exactly means you cant flash a recovery or kernel. if there is an exploit then that would allow you so, however loki was the last big one and it came out when the s4 was released, took samsung 4 months to patch it and have it in firmware going out to phones. it took lg over a year to do teh same, but the end has come for it and 4.4 finally patched it.

your best hope for rom flashing is a safestrap/2ndinit recovery, otherwise you are gunna start having to swap files via adb/root explorer.
