After two days of trying to get Astro and various other apps to connect to my computer, I finally succeeded only to find out that you can not open the files and play them or view them. So, I started working with the AllShare app.
I know absolutely nothing about file sharing, home groups, or networks. I finally got my computer and AllShare app to talk to each other but all the folders were empty from my computer in AllShare.
Somewhere in all the Googling results and reading post after post after post about the subject and following tens of hundreds of instructions, I gave up,
Then somehow, I found the Allshare Program for the computer which I downloaded and installed. All of a sudden that program has a pop up that says my Samsung I510 wants to join in the shared folder of my system, do I want to allow it?
Boom! as Madden said, I can now listen to the music files that are on my computer, on my phone; view pictures and watch videos. And it works in reverse, I can watch/listen/see files that are on my phone, on my computer.
