Android Enthusiast
This is my first Android phone, and my experience with Android has seriously been tainted by this phone. I think the problem is the phone, not Android. I'm going to give Android another chance and get a new phone by the end of the year, and then I'll see if the problem is Android or the phone.

What is the problem your having? We are all here to help any and everyone that has problems and or question to make their Androids a accomplishment. :D

you didn't even say what your issue is, sounds more like your lack of experience and knowledge than the phone or android. Unlike the iPhone which is a toy made for children and tech dummies "no offense", Android is designed like a real computer.

Just the basic problems:

The phone takes 4:30 to boot up, (but everything works fine and fast enough after it's booted up, and that's after a lot of tweaking.)

Pathetically little storage memory for apps, and the phone makes it almost impossible to extend the memory for apps, (finally solved the problem with Link2SD, but that's after days of tweaking and fiddling.)

The phone either can't multitask or can't effectively switch between tasks. Everything I am using a web browser or following a GPS or playing a game or using another app, if a phone call comes in and the call screen pops up, everything gets messed up. i.e., the browser or game hangs up or crashes, the GPS loses its map display, the apps stops working and closes, etc. The phone just can't multitask effectively. I blame it on the single core.

... have to go. I'll add more later.

This is the most important part:

The phone acted up when I really needed it to work. I had spent DAYS, I had missed DAYS of works, because the phone acted up, locked up my data. It just made me SO ANGRY and FRUSTRATED that I had to stay home to fix the problem. (I work as a contractor so I have the freedom to miss work, but I still have a schedule and have to turn in my works on time.)

That is the BIGGEST problem: I want a phone that just WORKS. I have to attend to a life and work, and I can't let a phone drag me down. And this phone is pissing me off because so often it just does NOT work correctly when I need it to work.

I know all those Android geeks out there who get big orgasms because they can play with and tweak with the system and settings and whatever, and that kind of activities turn them on. But for me, it causes headaches and frustrations, and it makes me fall behind on everything.

I recommend the connect for you. >.>

Well beggers can't be choosers, contract up dude.

How long does it take for your LG Esteem to complete its boot?

I've pretty much solved all the other problems myself (i.e., sped up the phone operations, extended internal memory, made Android browsers work with IE-only websites, etc.)

Now I want it to boot up faster. It takes almost five minutes for mine to completely boot up and read the SD card (which is a class 10.) Something is holding up my phone at the boot screen... is there a boot screen that can echo/list the apps as they are being loaded during boot up?

who uses that much stuff at one time? that's like serious ADHD,
I've install a sheet load of apps on this phone and haven't had storage issues, if you are having that many problems with storage move them off of the phone to your sd card.

the esteem does have a bit of a long boot up, but never been that long for me, maybe 2 mins at the most. maybe you need to try a custom ROM like Number two, and I have to admit that the call issue is a bit annoying, I've been in the middle of playing a game, have a call come in and screw it up.

if you are rooted, rom toolbox might help you with the sD card being slow, it also has an auto start manager

Ya'll gotta remember there's kids reading all this. Not appropriate.

Anyways. Five minute boot up? I would suggest do a full wipe and a new rom/kernel.

i think what he means is when the internal memory gets read that does take a min but after that everything is quick. Now i never said this before but ive seen users in this forum with tons of icons/apps running on their status bar and thats a huge no no in my opinion keep your phone running smoothly no need to have extra junk running in the background!
