I hate the HTC hero!

Iphone:
Slim flat shiny design, ok I like the way it looks.
To many users have one, kind of like a huge crowd of sheep. Baaaaa
Has been known to explode :/ (I think airlines will ban them)
Have never been keen with Apple anyway.
Itunes... ahhhhh hate hate hate hate.
An aging dog now.

Hero:
Has a better camera.
Sence UI is a big thing over the Iphone. You can customise away.
I like being able to add my fav apps to screens of my choice.
Multy tasking saves me a lot, as I like being able to go back to the same app later and to find its still saved where I last looked at it.
Android - a software thats going places.
Oh and this is a big one I like to jab at Iphone users. I can drag and drop a new song into the phone just like ..... that.
Flash support. Something Iphone may never get.
New, young and full of things yet to come.

Some of the things I think about.

Tell that to the networks. I suspect that the last thing Orange, T-Mobile et al want to see is an app that lets us make VOIP calls via wi-fi and bypass their lovely revenue stream. ;)

This is an old argument but the fact remains that the iPhone has Skype with VOIP and Symbian has Fring - I'm not asking for anything that isn't already available on other platforms.

Well, lets do a quick test:

Can you name anything the iphone can do that the Hero can't?

serious answers only please.

1. well the camera is better (shame no plash tho but iphone doesnt so)
2. flash browsing
3. the people app
4. multitasking
5.linking contacts to facebook and google. i like the way all my contacts are all sync'd to google and i can never lose them!! if i forget my phone all i need is a pc to access all my contacts.
5. the amount of customizing is intense, im still scratching the surface.
6. the opera browser, i recently found if u press menu then windows you can have multiple browsers open looking at different thing, this is great.
7. the the hero looks better fits nicer in your hand and doesnt slip at all.
8. having a trackerball!!!!!!!!!!! love it!!
9. the cool pattern unlock code thing!
i could go on all day

I can think of only ONE thing the Iphone does have over my beloved Hero. Compass mode in map view (and I mean MAP view, not streetview), considering it's a Google app it's shocking this feature is not available on the Hero! Everything else, the hero blows the Iphone outta water afaik!

Iphone has Itunes to sync music. Apple folks quote this as a huge advantage.

But, I think its only an advantage if you happen to like the proprietary way apple handles audio (which I despise) and being shackled to itunes.

I much prefer the amazon mp3 store / media monkey combination with my Hero. Amazon MP3s come as, brace yourself; MP3's. No added security. You can actually use the MP3s you purchase however you choose. And MediaMonkey does the syncing to Hero very well, including any RSS feeds I want mediamonkey to download and sync to hero for me..

I really cant think of anything i need the hero to do that it doesnt do very well. Its a homerun as far as Im concerned. If I could design the hero II, I would make it with a slightly larger screen and longer battery life.
