Help I have basic questions on Captivate usage

ldsledge

Lurker
Hey guys, ldsledge here from Clearwater, Florida. Just traded my BB in for Captivate Galaxy. Love it but have issues. I try to download and install things like ringdroid, Kindle, etc., and it downloads but I get msg "download unsuccessful." On Ringdroid, I get "your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android market." Seems to be a security issue and I have no way to handle.

Also, I want to download the Samsung manual but it asks for id from my phone, and I can't find it. I took the back off the phone, and looked everywhere for a code that looked like the ones they have in the site but can't find.

Thanks for any help.

Choice 1 for installing those apps (from Samsung):

How Do I Side Load Applications On My SGH-i897 (Captivate) Phone Using The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)?

Choice 2 for installing those apps (Sideload Wonder Machine) - easier:

The Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine - Android Forums
