I have a Palm Pre. There is no Gmail because it uses webOS.

Do you mean there's no gmail app or no gmail access? I've used gmail from day 1 on my Pre. Contacts in my Pre are backed up through gmail with no problem. You have to set your gmail account as the default account in the contacts preferences. It does only work for new contacts after setting as the default, so if it wasn't done initially it wont help you now. The thread below may help you out.

The Sprint Rep made me turn it on to activate it. So I hope that doesn't mess with my first charge. I'm waiting for the green light and then I'm going to be playing with my phone ALL DAY!

By the way, I'm getting FULL signal bars at my current location whereas earlier on my Palm Pre I was only getting 1 or 2 here. Also, the Sprint Rep made a test call to my Evo3D and the call quality was great.

I plan on transferring my contacts manually. Just by hand. I want a fresh start =) So I'm just going to copy (manually) from my Palm Pre to my Evo3D.

In an unrelated story, I had to go to the sprint store this morning to get the charger for my OG evo replaced and as soon as I walked inside the sprint guy who was very nice(actually everyone was nice) started selling me on the 3vo. As he is going through his little speech, he proceeded to ask me what kind of phone I had and I told him "Oh nothing special" then I took out my 3vo and he was like "WAIT WHAT?" The look on his face was priceless, it was just too funny. He asked me how I got it already I told him about the premier pre-sale. He knew about it but didn't think anyone was gonna actually get the phone before friday. Anyway the look on his face made my day.

Yes you can, just go into where you can change your lock screen and select settings then just click on the app you want to replace then it will bring up a menu of other apps that you can select which will replace the default ones.

Got the phone yesterday and its probably the best upgrade I've made... My blackberry was great for what I needed it to do... but the HTC is everything I need at my fingertips. Still getting used to all the functions and the touchscreen... But so far, im pretty content.

I got an invisible shield put on mine yesterday, so they have screen protectors in stock at some places. In fact, the Best buy I git the inisible shield from was the first and only place I even looked for a screen protector. I had checked zagg's website and it didn't list the Evo 3D, so I thought they weren't for sale yet. But Best Buy had a bunch in stock (not listed on their website either though).

I am a little jealous of Arm. I came into Android with the Hero from a Touch Pro 2 and each firmware update and phone upgrade has built on the one before so while each thing gets better and better I would love to go back and see how amazing my 3vo would be coming from a Touch Pro 2 or a Pre.

Also, is there a way to enter my contacts into Gmail and then Synch with my phone from Gmail? It might be easier for me because I have over 300 contacts to enter.

go to the HTC Hub..and pick one of the pre set home setups. but you will still have to do the fine tuning.. and load your phone apps from the market.. coming from the pre; you know what I mean.

as suggested from others.. the easiest, might be to take it to a sprint corp store.. have them transfer your contacts for you. Then you can have the e3d sync to gmail. but you are in the hospital .. do you have a laptop? there might be some webos app that will transfer to gmail.. then gmail to e3d

I'd also suggest adding a lock pattern, pin or pass code to your lock screen. I also always turn off haptic feedback because I hate it, but that's a personal preference. Obviously, disabling GPS, WiFi and 4g when not in use will help with battery life a lot. If you don't need to have your email constantly synced then turning off syncing and mobile data also helps A LOT! I usually disable mobile data and just turn it one when I want to check my email. Since my phone is always on silent, it's not like I know when I get an email if the phone is in my pocket anyway.

i use auto brightness and leave GPS on ... on my evo... and the battery is fine. full day of use

GPS is not eating battery.. till some app ask for the its service.
but without GPS... some apps that give you local info.. will ask you to turn it on..

I don't want to give false hope by any means but you may receive it tomorrow. I ordered through telesales yesterday and it arrived at the Nashville hub at 3:22 this AM and went out for delivery at 4:04 with an ETA of "Thursday - 6/23/2011 - By End of Day." A lot of people here have received theirs next day so I am hoping you will too. I can tell you, it is hard to concentrate here at work knowing that it could be arriving at my doorstep at any time! My husband is off work today so he will be there to get it for me if it is there before I get home.

Can anyone trouble us with a picture of the 3D next to the OG p) with them having the same screen saver or at least something that shows the difference in screen color?

I can wait until tomorrow to compare with my own, just figured someone who's non-stop playing with the phone would want to do anyways.

The wirefly review vs the Iphone 4 looked like the 3D really held it's own.
