Oh! Sorry, I just thought you were being obtuse!

Which ID should I search for?

FWIW, the Dinc 'page' on FB is NOT official, it is just some guy.

I'm "just some guy" too ... I'm OK with that :D

See if this helps...here are the two I have:

**THIS POLL IS BS**

I like the thread, but it should be made by a Mod, and stickied ... specifically stating to "Post below ONLY WHEN you receive the OTA notice of an update" And Nobody else can post, no discussions, no BS poll, etc.

So Mods, someone lock this and make a legit post. Or PM me and ill make it so you can sticky the hell outta it.

Sorry for my dramatic post, i just feel the last thing we need is another discussion thread about the OTA.

For those that think it matters where you live, here's a tweet from verizon support: The update is sent OTA and it will be sent in batches in random order.

I called Verizon and was told the following...

1. You will get the OTA between Aug 27th at Noon and Sept 3rd.
2. No, you can't download it yourself.
3. No, you cant take it to a store and get it any faster.
4. We cant tell your when you are scheduled to get it.
5. We don't know how the schedule for updates is determined.

I understand the reluctance to overload the network with this update, but they should have some sort of pull option via wifi at the user's discretion. That in itself would help relieve the load on the network.

Mods, I do not appreciate your changing the second response in my poll; the poll option I had created was for a sense of random and quirky humor. That is all.

Second, I do not see the reason for discussion to end, this is an entirely different discussion from all other threads, ergo, there is no reason, as rsarno suggested, to close the thread, or change the poll.

They probably want to avoid clogging the servers and download errors as well.

when froyo comes out I am so done with waiting on updates I can't take this shit anymore

If you really want to be done waiting for updates, root your phone and apply any darn ROM you want. Then, when gingerbread comes out, you can just put it on the phone and go to town. You don't have to wait for Verizon to give it to you.

HTC Twitter confirms OTA coming today
viewimage.php

That's starting today. That doesn't mean everyone gets it today.

Good luck, but I dont' think same account matters, I believe it is completely random, previously I had 2 Eris's on the same account and activated the same day and they received the 2.1 update about a week apart.

My wife and I have exact same phones, same account, same time. With my luck, she'll get the update ASAP (she really could care less) and I'll have to wait...

I've been a mod before and one of the rules we had was that if we do something to a thread/post we had to post that we did it and why. This way people could send us a private message instead of starting a mod-bashing rant in the forum.

+1 - we already have another lengthy thread doing that and I really don't want to have to follow two seperate threads that aren't accomplishing much. There should just be a "Yes" option and that's that. All the chatter can go to the other thread and there's no point in answering "No" because then when you actually get it, you won't be able to answer "Yes".

this just in, Verizon confirms that if you are looking at your phone for the update, you automatically don't get it.

Phone must be on but not in use for a minimum of 5 hours.

I think this discussion should end. There are 2 threads going on talking about the 2.2 update. And this one started off with a poll asking if you got the OTA with two ridiculous answers. The title of the thread is totally misleading too. Nobody on this forum has seen an update yet.
