First of all I didn't ask for a screenshot, one was provided, secondly, I believe the update is alive and well and I know I will get it soon, I was under the impression that the only way to get a screenshot is if you were rooted, I have since learned that this wrong and I apologized. So I'm not refusing to believe anything, I just thought I saw some red flags in his screenshot so I assumed he faked it, as I said, I have apologized, if you would have read a few posts later you would have seen that!
 
Somebody said you have to wait, you cannot force it. Well I tried forcing the power button on REAL HARD....thinking that they didn't really try to confirm their theory. However, I can confirm that force did not work.

Now I'm gonna try a few Jedi mind tricks......"This is the dinc you are looking for.... those other droids are not the ones you are looking for...." I can see I'm a little rusty.

Your correct the RUU . So if I'm willing to accept the wipe I'm good? Everything works including 270 degree rotation ?

Yes I believe so, I have not done so myself I'm going to wait a few days to see if I get it because I don't want to wipe my phone. It won't wipe your SD card but all your apps and settings will have to be redone...but yea it's the exact same as the ota as far as features. The build numbers and everything are the same.

Not only is the bloatware stuff I don't want like VZNavigator, it includes Skype which I can't run since I'm on an Alltel plan.

Yeah, I know....root and you can get rid of it.

Are there any step by step instructions on how to do this?
 
I keep concentrating and staring really hard, but Andy keeps giving me the bird and telling me "take a picture it lasts longer". BTW, just to stay ot, I haven't got anything. I get the impression that Andy knows I'm waiting, so he might be holding out on me. I will let you know if he breaks. :)
 
Guys, if you get the OTA update, could you please say your location, just as a reference for the rest of us? Thanks a lot.

It looks as if the OTA will have an updated PRI which can help with signal and data. Thats why I want the OTA versus the RUU.

Pull the update.zip from /cache/ and upload it so we can apply it.
 
Not quite sure if this is update related, but my phone has been and continues to be "out of service." I can't make any phone calls at all. Right now it's connected with wifi so I am able to check for updates. Reboot and removing the battery did nothing.

Opinions?
 
These rumors are just comical now! I remember wasting too much time checking for the update and reading every bogus rumor on the net....yet thanks MASHABLE! Finally, I just got up the guts to root and I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!!!!!!!!

So what do you think, do the OTA and then apply any new rom you make?:confused: Would that work better?

No it would definitely fail, it will have to be applied on the stock 2.1 rom due to the assert checks. But if we get the update.zip we don't have to wait for VZW to push. I just want it because it believed to have an updated PRI that doens't update if you use the leaked RUU or ROM built of the RUU.
 
remember Christmas when you were 9 y.o.? were you happier during the hours before you opened your gifts or the hours after you opened your gifts? savor the anticipation, it is 90 percent of the joy. im 35 y.o. it surprises me how the promise of something like this(2.2) captivates me. lol. makes me wonder if im just a 35 y.o. kid? lol. which isnt necessarily a bad thing.
