From OC SoCal...

Woke up at 6am and had no system updates. Went back to sleep and woke up again at 8:32am and had a system update which the update clearly says there is a system upgrade to 2.2 (froyo). It is installing right now.

Ordered phone July 25th received on Aug. 23. My screen was a different system update than the pics i saw posted here.

Didn't flash the new radio. Now I am on 2.2 and can't get the 2.XXX radio on there. The image when I am in reboot starts to load, but just stops like its done. But obviously it's not.
I have clockwork mod and s off.

Any help would be appreciated.

It just varies a lot. I just hit 1301, but I've also had under 1200. I followed this up with 1280, 1222 and 1295. This is with the RUU. No live wallpaper or anything special really. Probably only non-stock thing running at the time was pdanet.

I think I figured out why such wide variability and posted about it in the root section. BTW, my undergrad is in computer electronics (Industrial, but still CE).

oh crap, im sorry man, the radio needs to be done in hboot.

you need to get the .zip for the new radio, re name it to the correct, PB31IMG.zip, then boot into hboot and install like that.

I'm in the same area as you, but haven't gotten the update yet, hopefully it will come sometime while I'm at work today waiting around for our domain migration to finish.
 
He is trying to update his radio to the latest 2.15x. I messed up and at first told you to do it via clockworkmod recovery, then realized as he said it wasn't working that I was wrong, and needs to be done via HBOOT. hopefully the OP is having some luck..
 
Is it possible to back to 2.1 if we have already received the ota? 2.2 is way too laggy. Feels like I'm using the Droid x, literally.
 
How does verizon go about pushing update to their customers? I have noticed that it's not necessarily by region/location. So I'm wondering if it's possibly by the last 4 digits of ssn.

This scares me. I am a power user, i need the most out of my battery. I dont need VZW forcing me to have apps opent hat i will never ever use.

Sounds like we need an immediate solution to root this thing quick, and get rid of the bloatware for good.
