Could't you just search the log for just the word "update.zip"?
or just .zip and locate all of them lol. screw it

Any way of letting the update.zip download and then capture it off the phone before it installs it?

none of those results came up. tried http:, tried .zip, tried zip, tried OTA, tried update...nothing
hmm is there osmething special i have to do? like, i dont have the icon in my status bar; it only says i can update when i goto about phone and the install button is there. (gotta restart and install though)....with alogcat opened, i went into that menu and still nothing

Well then, that's too bad. I imagine the numbers should/could be higher then since ppl can't change their vote.
Where does the file download to? sdcard? if so can't you just plug into computer and upload it somewhere?

well heres a kick in the nuts:
I/SystemUpdateInstallDialog(** 81): OTA update available: /cache/8e5ad8d6ea2d.OTA_IncredibleC_Verizon_WWE_3.21.605.1_1.22.605.2_release_sign.zip
can't get to that folder obviously (says empty when you try) aaaaand there's NO url listed anywhere where it talks about the OTA update

What were you doing right before the update showed up? Did you restart or anything? just wondering if maybe you triggered it some how. LOL im such a fiend for Froyo.
Also does it alert you by your notification sound or something else?

It needs to start downloading so it would show up on logs wouldn't it?

If he downloads it. Could he not just plug into computer and copy update.zip?

it already downloaded, according to about phone.
before, i didn't get the little triangle with the !...i woke my phone up only to see a display msg saying hte updates available and that my battery is too low, so id have to charge it.
so i closed that out..now, i goto about phone, updates, and it says there "downloaded and verified"
so i assume it already downloaded somewhere? cuz i can click "restart and install" but if i do that, obvioulsy i can't get you guys the file.

but that alogcat method seems like it wouldn't work, period. i think when you open the APP, it starts logging FROM THEN ON OUT....meaning, the app would have already had to have been open BEFORE you got the OTA message, since my phone says "downloaded and verified" meaning it's already downloaded onto my phone. opening up alogcat wouldn't show a URL of the download, because the download occured before i even downloaded the app!

I think the alogcat might only work when you first get it and havent downloaded it. It allows you to capture the link the phone goes to to download the .zip file. Once you have that link you can dl the zip, share the link and upload the zip...
