Root I have the itch to try a "proper" ICS ROM :/

I've been using ROMs that imitate ICS through skinning for a while now, and they've all been good and given me a taster of what's to come (hopefully)

Does anyone know, are any of the current crop of ICS ROMs suitable for daily use? Specifically I was looking at this [BETA 0.4.2.1][01.03] ICS for Desire [FULL HW][ALL HBOOTS][4.0.3] - xda-developers and everything seems to work bar camera previews, video recording and tethering. Does anyone else use the ROM? Or another "proper" ICS ROM perhaps?

I seem to be in this weird state right now, my Desire contract is coming to an end and i'm really looking forward to a new phone... but I know i'm going to end up using it in exactly the same way as my Desire, same apps... same everything... probably. Odd

Theming GB like ics gives you a taste of what ics might be like on a dual core, gig of RAM, top end current device.

Running ics on a single core, less-than-half-a-gig of RAM, top end, 2 yr old device? Well....

Flash sandvolds ics (the one to go for imho) and run it for 2 days. Be amazed at its blueness.

Then flash back and be amazed how much faster your device is.

My opinion (for what its worth)? Ics will never be as reliable, stable or fast as GB on the desire.

I tried it and it looks good and runs ok generally but when you come back to dGB you realise just how much smoother, quicker and reliable dGB is.

I like blueness! :D
But yeah, I know what you say is the truth... but a guy can dream!

I was speaking to a friend who is already using ICS and when I showed him my Desire his response was "What ROM is that and why does it look like a slightly less sexy version of ICS?", that's what started this whole ball rolling for me :(

All hail dGB! How long did you use ICS for? Were there any glaring problems?

Well the camera preview was one issue, not a problem I guess if you don't use the camera much. It began to get laggy for me, though I guess that may have been down to me not having a top drawer sdcard.

It is worth having a try and they may have added some more updates since I last used it.

I have now changed phones to the Sensation and am using this ROM [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.5.0 | ICS | High Quality & Performance | 3.32.401.5 - xda-developers.

There's an app om the market called "camera ics" which is a modified and improved ics camera. Works well on GB. Worth a try on ics
