I just got a message from AT&T about an update....

what is touchwiz?

also my phone is rooted and use launcher pro but i tried it stock mode and in launcher pro mode and it didnt work.

I'm pretty sure you have to be bone stock to do the update. Root may be ok, but you definitely have to use the stock launcher (Touch Wiz), not Launcher Pro. You may have to remove the root. Or, don't bother with the update, just go with a custom ROM and so many more of your problems will be solved ;)

i have had a kies mini for a while now and i have updated my firmware with my phone being rooted. it basically reloaded all the ATT bloatware and unrooted my phone. so i just rerooted it and deleted the bloatware again.

so do you think it being rooted is still the problem?

also i tried the froyo update using the stock launcher. i took my battery out restarted my phone with the stock launcher debugged and tried to do the update and still got the error messages i posted above.

i would however love a custom rom that has all the froyo goodies and where i can tether anonymously. if you can help me with this i will forever in your debt. :o

i have obviously tinkered with my phone a bit but i have not attempted to load/flash or whatever the terminology is for loading a rom. i am still a newb.
 
This is so damn annoying,
i have all drivers up to date, un rooted my phone, installed kies

i get to the screen where im supposed to be at - i hit UPGRADE PHONE agree to the terms - after five mins message pops up " Phone cannot be upgraged reboot phone and try again later"

Funny cause the update.zip file didnt work to root again- used superone click 1.7 now im back in business with a new super user icon (the droid with the cross bones) i liked the other icon better..

You want the phone to be in keis mode under usb settings not debugging mode
