Hey all, as you can tell I'm new to this forum. I bought an LG Ally about a month ago, and, I like it. I simply felt the need to post this because of all the negative flack the device seems to get.

It really isn't a bad phone. Sure the processor is a dated 600MHz, and the design is rather chunky, but all-in-all it does what I want and need it to do. I have been with Verizon for about four years and owned three LG devices (my last being the Chocolate Touch. One of the worst phones in the history of mobile phones). So, I am a little biased towards the Ally (you can call me a brand whore). I ended up paying $50 for it, then I found out that Verizon marked the price [back] up to $100. It made me pretty happy to learn that I got it on sale.

It is my first smartphone. I love being able to do so much with one device. The keyboard is one of the best I have ever used. It makes typing up notes in classes and conversations fast and easy-thanks Evernote. Yep the Dinc is a sexy smartphone, the the DroidX is a freaking beast, but I'm going to stick by my Ally until it blows up. Well, at least until I'm due for my next upgrade.

I thought I'd post up a poll in hopes of seeing how many users are currently enjoying their Ally. Please cast your vote!

I would be up for that. I'm just not sure about it yet. It isn't like messing with an old computer that I don't mind if I mess up. I do plan to get more involved with what it is capable of eventually.

There should be a third poll option : "I can deal with it most of the time". I don't "hate" my Ally but I can't say I'm in love with it all the time. (It's been good lately though, it must like Christmas).

Ha! Good neutral approach.

I can definitely understand that. I really do like the phone, but sometimes it can become a bit of a pain to use.

I like it. Rather have like a Droid though... But I have met a lot of great people and Learned a lot about how Andorid works.

Bought one for my wife this Christmas and it seems like a nice phone. She can make use of most of the features easily and enjoys it. She won't need to root or do any high end things on it so it looks like it should work out for her.

another vote for on the fence. i've had my ally since july, and have a love-hate relationship with it. it's been mostly love, but i'm constantly frustrated by the hardware limitations and the slow trickle of software support. this is my third "smartphone," and i can honestly say it's my favorite so far. that being said, i do intend to upgrade to a higher-end phone when it's financially feasible. but all things considered, since i basically got it for free, i can't really complain that much.
