I love the LG Volt, but...

This is a great phone, I still miss my gigantic Galaxy Note 2 though, but I'll live. That being said, this phone has everything everyone wants for the price, but...

The constant closing of apps gets on my nerves, I use Swiftkey as my main keyboard, and sometimes it just closes mid sentence. Also if I have audio playing in the background, it'll most likely close eventually if I'm multitasking. I also have Viper FX, and it also randomly closes the minute I start multitasking.

Another thing I'd like to point out is the development on this phone... You'd think for a phone thats this cheap, has decent specs, and 4.4 KK, there would be at least one rom in the works, but we barely have a recovery.. eh.

Anywho I hope a decent less bloated custom rom will fix all of those issues, and I've read most of the threads on this forum, and its pretty obvious that I'm not the only one with these issues.

With a market that is flooded with phones, it is hard to find much development on most phones. Today, managing all the flagship phones is hard enough. I am surprised swiftkey is closing on you, esp since it would be something in the foreground. That is pretty sad, it should be treated like an OS level app. I would def get a message to LG about that, eventually there will be enough reasons to do a patch to alleviate some of these issues.

Do you have the persistent mode checked in Viper? Swiftkey shouldn't do that if you are using it at the time. Sounds like you have some other issue going on. If clearing data a cache for Swiftkey doesn't work, try doing a factory reset, yes you'll have to set everything back up, but might fix your issue. I reflashed the stock LG firmware which has none of the carrier bloat. Froze MobileID before it even had a chance to try and run. I've gained several hundred MB of storage and available RAM floats between 250 and 300 now instead of 150 - 200 like it was before.

locked bootloader puts a big hold on any development. My volt runs a lot better since I flashed the lg stock mod using the download mode . No more of the VM bloat . I got rid of a lot of other apps that werent neccessary as well.As far as recovery I will wait patiently. I believe our main dev completely bricked his only tester phone.

Does it upload a full ROM or modify exhisting? I'm rooted and applied the SD card fix so wondering if any issues there.

Reflashes the whole rom and everything. But it is a non carrier specific rom so it doesnt have the vm or boost bloat in it. What SD card fix do you speak of?

I used the app on the store called nextapp sdfix, it modifies some user permissions so 3rd party apps can write to the SD card.

I debloated the shit out of this thing and it runs so much better. I went from around 100mb of RAM to 200-300 like dude said above. All the VM stuff is gone, most of the LG stuff is gone. Got rid of the location stuff and battery life improved. The only issue ive had with this phone is needing to turn data on and off to get LTE kicking.

Did you do a prl and profile update? I've had no issues with it automatically switching from 3G to LTE

never had an issue at all with the data switching . I got rid oif all vm bloat by doing the download mode flash as it is non carrier specific.

Gendo, just did the reflash and all looks good. It did say it failed in the program however cause the flash finished on the phone and the phone was rebooting, and the app was waiting for the phone to talk back to it, but because it went right to the mini OS, it never did reconnect to the app. Is it missing anything serious?

That did for me to, just hold down power and it should boot fine, just check that thread to make sure I'm right

Well all went well.. can't say I am seeing any improvements though. I am still tweaking things but poweramp still closes in the background with chrome. ^^ I think there are less times where I home button out of an app and have to wait a second or 2 for the live wallpaper (ie it is not being unloaded).

the 1gb tot, is that the full android system being installed? or is it just all the applications? This is my first experience with them.

That tot file flashes the whole stock LG firmware. I'm not sure why everyone's having these issues I've had Pandora, waze, and able to browse using Dolphin Browser all at the same time with no problems. Though I do have everything greenified.

i have no issues at all whatsoever with the tot file after the flash. I did nopthing special at all. I have no apps frozen or bloat removed. Just the stock tot file flashed and prl updated. I run nova launcher and xposed framework with the g2 tweaksbox module.
