I loved my droid until.....

I have not been "asked" for a ota frg22g ...as of now ....will it come to my D1? or should i force it(my d1 is NOT lagging and i forced the 2.2 edition#1) what should i do?

0.1 percent of millions of users would be thousands, not 100,000 with a problem... ;)

But I still basically agree with you!

Oh... what's 10% between friends... lol

I see my screwup though... 1,000,000 x .1 ( ie 10% ) instead of moving the decimal another place over as I should have.... besides... my numbers aren't based on real statistics either to be completely honest, just seat of the pants...

I think the 2.2 froyo upgrade comes preset with all animations on. Try going to settings/display/animations and click all animations off and see if the speed picks up for you. I am rooted running FRG22 (rooted)and my phone is as quick as any phone out there (probably quicker) but there will be a screen lag if I turn on all the animations.

I suspect the number 1 reason for big lag in 2.2 is.... Drumroll please....

Automatic Task killers that are set to kill damn near everything. Coming from an iPhone to the Droid I was getting pretty frustrated because the task killer (first App I was told to install) was hosing me. As soon as I got rid of it my phone transformed into a lovely piece of machinery.

I hear that the task killers are even worse in 2.2 than they were in 2.1...

Beyond that, I rooted yesterday and am running an "older" ROM Bugless Beast 0.4 and after 24 hours in on this without a single hiccup and NO MORE lag at all I am very very pleased.

Psychokitty, I was really paranoid and careful and researched and read everything very carefully before I pulled the trigger so although I would agree that the "rooting" process itself was very fast (10 minutes max) the backups and flashing clockwork and the ROM and everything was probably a 3 hour process for me.
I can well imagine with your practice it is down to 30 minutes. I think if I was to do so again it might be 1.5 hour process for me.

Cheers all

I have never had a task killer on my phone. As I've said before I don't have a lot of stuff installed on my phone, it's very close to stock. I've called verizon and have done everything they suggested and still it lags.

Many have posted they know the reason for the problems...and every one I have read is wrong...so far.
I removed TK's before 2.2 was delivered and I have loads of problems with 2.2.

Data wipes, resets, SD card formats.......tried everything but using new apps to cure the lagging. No dice.

I will take 2.1 over this, any day.

Called in my droid got a different problemand they ended up sending me a droid 2 as a replacement. Not to crazy about motoblur but the performance is overall better so far....

What do you miss about the droid 1? I have a few problems with my droid and I'm thinking of replacing it but I'm not to fond of the Droid 2..

Once the Droid 2 can be rooted and accept custom ROM's I think it will be pretty bloody awesome really.
Just the extra RAM would be awfully nice. The processor isn't too shabby either.

ooh, the RAM though....

:)

Same here -- running BB 0.4 with no issues.

While I agree with the "I shouldn't..." sentiment, IMO you can either sit around and argue about what "should be" or you can do something about it. It's really up to you.
