Rooted last night. Running CM7, I went to take a picture today and the camera is very sub par in my oppinion compared to the factory camera on the factory rom. Anyone know a good camera app?

Vignette is a good one. Has a lot of features/effects, i also like how it has the option to set the volume rocker as a take picture button.
There is a free version you can try but doesn't have access to all the features. The paid app is $4 i think. I got it from Amazon on sale for $2.

If you install a NIGHTLY version of CyanogenMod, (need ROM Manager Premium), then the camera is so much better.

Which nightly version? And do I have to do a complete wipe? I am somewhat good at flashing roms now.

You shouldn't have to wipe it, it should just update. Just do the latest version.
