I'm looking into this just now, it says download hboot drivers, but the file contains 2 folders plus other stuff, folders are named: amd64 & i386.

What from these do I download?

Also, i'm on Windows 7, I cannot seem to do this:

  1. Right click "My computer" > Manage > Device Manager
  2. Expand "Other Devices" in the right-hand pain and locate "Android 1.0 device"
  3. Right click on Android 1.0 and click Update Driver Software
I'm proceeding slowly... but don't want to presume anything...

Thanks.

I've just realised that the second part, needs to be done in the hboot menu...

So, which drivers do I need to install?

Thanks...

Another quick question if I may...

Do you connect the Desire at the very beginning, ie, when you are extractig the hboot drivers and keep it connected throughout?

Cheers SU!!

If you're following my guide, 1-9 of hboot, you connect it where it says and leave it connected until step 9.

Then when you get to the rooting process it tells you to turn on the phone. You can disconnect it between step 9 and the rooting process or just leave it connected.

This is going to sound really sad, but PHEW, hboot sorted... only the main event to go!!!

:D

I take it it is correct for the Superuser app in my app drawer to be empty/blank?

Thought I'd see what was there but there is just a close up of space... :D

Next job tomorrow is looking through all available roms etc and picking one!!!

It will track your apps that need root access and whether they are allowed / denied SU.

However, you are prompted to select this the first time you run an app and it then adds to the list. If you havent run any root apps, it remains blank.
