Lurker
First off if this thread is in the wrong area, im sorry, feel free to move it.
Ok so i think i have screwed up so bad right now.
So im kinda new to the android family but i have had my new captivate for a while now and i have to say i like it.
Anyways my phone needed an update and i saw one called gingerbread or something like that, i updated it no problem and was pretty proud of it, so i updated my little sisters phone as well since she has one just like mine.
Anyways we was playing around and noticed that there was NO SIGNAL!
Wifi works like a charm but the signal isnt even picking up and i was watching a video and he said he had the same problem and he left his sim card in the phone while updating and i think he said it screwed his whole phone up (Signal wise) anyways i left my sim card in my phone and my little sisters phone and now we both dont have signal. I read around that i could install a modem but finding the right one is like a needle in a hay stack and since im not the smartest person when it comes to this i have NO IDEA how to install a modem even if i do come across one..i used odin to install the gingerbread and im hoping an praying that if i revert back to 2.2 or 2.1 that i will get my signal back even tho i wanna keep my current version i just wanna fix our singal.
We both use AT&T if that helps.
the one i downloaded was GT-I9000 for the galaxy s captivate.

Update could have changed the APN. If you got the update from ATT itself, I'd call them. TMO has a couple of APN, so I'd think that ATT does, too.

Welcome to the forums, xRONNI3x.

The Android Lounge was ok, but this area called "Captivate Support and Troubleshooting" will probably bring more users to your question who have that same device. :)

Ah, well that might work.
Well i googled an AT&T APN and it showed me a setup for the phone.
I did it but i still get no service at the house, before the update i always did.
But at work i get a full 4-5 bars, so i think i did something wrong and what would be the proper APN?
My current one is:
Name: At&t
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: NONE
Port: NONE
UserName: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: cingular1
Server: NONE
MMSC: http:mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: NONE
APN Type: Internet+Mms

Anything i set wrong?
If ANYONE and i mean anyone has anything that i could try i would greatly appreciate it.
I would really hate to call At&t cause they really dont help me with some problems but there is always a way they do sometimes depending on who im talking to.
But ill see what you guys have before breaking down and calling. :(

Check your MMS it as a typo. But the major error is your APN type that must be blank.
