Root I need help re-rooting...

Hi guys. I have had my phone since April 2011 and I rooted it sometime around August of that year. I rooted with CM7 and am still on 7.1 ever since I put it on around November. My question is...what are they steps I need to take to go about putting a newer ROM on my phone since I am sure most of the stuff I have on mine are outdated. The reason I am asking is because I have completely forgotten how to do all of this stuff and is there an easier way to put ROMs and the like on our phones?

Here are some specs if they are useful. I rooted with the revolutionary method.

So what are some good ROMs these days? I have read about that Thunderbolt tool, is that just an easier way to root?

Hello, once the phone is rooted, its rooted. You don't need to un-root or re-root to get the most recent ROM on the device.


All you need to do is the flash the updated custom ROM of your choice.

I do not have your device so I cannot give you specific instructions.

Ah yes. I meant to say Upgrade to a new ROM. I assume ROM manager would most likely be used for switching to a new ROM?

i personally would avoid the use of rom manager. it is not reliable,and is an app,in a working rom,and as such,will not always be available to you to use.

1)download rom(i download to PC and transfer to sd card,but you can download directly to the phone if you want to)
2)place it on the root of the sd card
3)boot to recovery
4)use recovery menu options to:
-make a backup
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-install rom
*install gapps if your rom requires it
5)reboot
