Help I need help with my Evo please!

ok, so I bought an Evo off some guy yesterday. Activated it and all that, but can't make calls etc. So I call Sprint and they try to get me to manually program it by typing in ##098015#. Well they say a screen with veiw and edit should come up, but when I type in the last # the numbers just dissappear and it dosen't go to the programming screen. I have reset it and done everything you could think of. I'm thinking the problem is there is a ROM installed on it and it's rooted. Android OS 2.3.3 gingerbread. How do you remove a rom? Do you think that's the problem?

Yep, that's definitely the problem. You're trying to use something called EPST, which will only work on Sense based ROMs, that being a ROM based on the modifications to Android that were made by HTC. Right now, you have what's called an AOSP ROM, which is based on the Google source. You're going to need to flash any HTC ROM of your choice. I have a few questions for you, first.

1) Do you want to keep what you have now when you're done, or would like like to start over, with a clean slate?
2) Do you want to keep Gingerbread, ultimately, or would you like to go back to a Sense based ROM (will be froyo)?
3) What is your current baseband radio version? You can find it by going to menu->settings->about phone.
