i need help

so ive recently rooted my phone and im trying to use the connection to play xbox live but i have a red bar connection even if my phone has full 3g service and is right next to the box. anyone know how to change it so its a better connection or am i up a creek without a paddle,?

3G won't be an sufficient connection for you to play XBL w/o lag. You would need a 4G-capable phone in order to get a decent connection and ping.

While you are right to an extent. I do still disagree. To the OP, Yes you will have to do with lag. But I play PS3 using my Droid X often and don't lag terribly.

What I recommend is this. Use Easy Tether or PDAnet, and tether your phone to your computer. From there bridge the connection using a Cat-5, Cat-5e or Cat-6 Ethernet cablet from the computer to the Xbox. I'm not promising DSL speed, or no lag. NYCHitman was dead on to say you will have lag. Also, find a sweet spot for the phone to sit at once you are on Xbox live. One where you don't lag as much.

another thing to consider is the type of game your playing. shooters are gonna be a lot worse over 3g then say a racing game or something thats less reaction based.

I've heard a number of stories of people being able to play Call of Duty on a wi-fi 3G tether. While they said it wasn't the best, they said it was definately playable without any game ruining lag.

Another issue that it could be is when you use too much data, many carriers throttle your data plan. What that means is they control it and limit your usage if they feel you used too much already in the month. If you have used a lot of data usage and tethered a lot already in this month, this could certainly be the cause.

I use about 2 gb every month. I don't tether that often either. I noticed that a match in medal of honor or call of duty seem to use about 4mb per match.

I'm connected to xbl. I can join some parties, but more can't connects than connects. Won't let me join any matches tho. I think its a strict nat issue. Anyway you know of to change nat settings to open. I have a 4g my touch.Thanks.
