Help I need Note 3 S-Pen help

flygon09

Lurker
so I just bought a Note 3 off of someone on craigslist, and it works fine and what not, but the only thing is that it doesn't have any s-pen options under settings->control

and when I try to write a message or something, it doesn't pull up the little pen icon as it should. when I do pull out the pen it does bring out the little circle thing.

any ideas on what it could be?

Go to the Settings menu and click on the General tab then move down the options and click on the "About device" option. What version number does it say under the "Android Version" label?

There should be S pen options in the settings, what model is your phone ie: N9005 etc?
It will tell you in Settings/General/About device.
Oops too late

I traded my iPhone 5 for it, and I think so? it's working with ATT and what not

Well I don't know if you purchased it knowing it didn't have S Pen support or not because you're saying you don't know if it's second hand or not and you don't know the name of the buyer, so I will say if it bothers you and you purchased it expecting the S Pen to work then you will have to contact the seller for a refund.

You can't take it to a shop to get proper KitKat installed on it because from the sound of things it seems like there isn't any warranty for it either. Unless you can find a phone shop that can flash KitKat onto your device then see if the menu options are activated and if the S Pen starts working.

You can also root the phone yourself and install KitKat to see if the menu options appear. If the previous owner of the phone froze the S Pen drivers or uninstalling them for any reason then you would need to reinstall KitKat.

You can also check to see if the phone is rooted with a program called "Root Checker" in the Google Play Store which you can access from a PC too by clicking the web link below or searching Google for the words "G9ogle Play Store"

I'd guess it has the wrong pen.
(S)he lost it, and scabbed in whatever was handy??

Can you borrow someone else's, slide it into your pen holder, remove it, and go from there? As a test i mean.

Does the pen have a button on the side that clicks in when you push it? The fake ones usually don't.
